I would do all your keys in FCP, then just send short bits ONE WAY to Motion for the lower thirds design, then bring the .motn project into FCP and place over the video.

A 45 minute Motion project? Motion tries to load all your footage into RAM – so I would expect problems. It is designed for projects that are maybe 30 seconds or a minute long…

But anyway you may get better performance with the usual: turn off preview thumbnails, lower resolution, lower quality, set a short play range…

But with key frames you get a nice “bounce” effect by using Bezier interpolation and adjusting the handles (breaking them into a “V” with Option key)…

Okay, sorry if I sounded harsh – just sounded like you were very new to Motion…

Okay, so many some kind soul WILL give you a step-by-step 🙂

That would be a good start – to get the elements to animate “exactly like” the Talk Soup background will take some more work…

Frankly I’d recommend hiring someone with some motion graphics experience to design it for you – nobody is going to be able to give you a step-by-step to create a project from scratch. Or if you have time, work through some tutorials or books on Motion to learn how to use the program.

Try exporting with current project settings first (as ProRes) and then compress that.

One thing that can help in this process is the box tool in the Keyframe Editor – with it you can time-stretch a group of keyframes quite easily. Unfortunately you can’t do it on all the keyframes in your project at once, but it can be quite helpful.

  • When you drag the car make sure you don’t drag from the little X in the center – click anywhere inside to bounding box except on the center (which selects the keyframe of the motion path).

Well you could add gravity and the edge collision simulation behavior, but I’m really not sure how you would still be able to assemble the word…
