  • Did you set your field dominance to None in Motion? That’s what I usually do.

  • Just check the properties of the .motn project inside FCP (Command-9) and verify if indeed field rendering is turned on – if so, you should be able to turn off right there.

Use this site to convert Panatone to RGB:

    https://www.goffgrafix.com/pantone-rgb-100.php

Then use the OSX color picker (which you can open within Motion by clicking any color swatch in the HUD or Inspector, go to the RGB picker, and type in the RGB values.

Stephen Smith’s tutorials available on the Cow are also good.

Sure, just add a mask to the drop zone with whatever shape you choose.

  • If you select your red arrow, go to the Properties tab of the Inspector, then drag the Position parameter (drag right on the word Position) over onto your green arrow, it will move to be in the exact same place as your red arrow. If you drag Rotation, it will also be oriented the same. You can drag the word Transform to apply position, rotation, and scale all at once. That should get you started.

Another trick: in the active camera view, draw a quick rectangle – it will be framed by the camera. Then drag the Position and Rotation parameters (you can select both at once) for the rectangle onto your layer that is “lost in space” – it will then be frame by the camera.

The file needs to be opened and saved on a Mac. If you don’t have Illustrator, send me the file and I’ll do it for you – just had this very same issue last week.

You either change the duration of the behavior by stretching it out in the mini-Timeline (if your project isn’t long enough, you can type a new value in the bottom right value field), or in the HUD, change it from Automatic to Fixed and enter a pixels/second value.

Results completely depend on the footage, not really anything you can do about it but shoot something designed to be slowed down that much – locked down camera, one subject moving, no background movement…
