Steady cam, motion or FCP
I am working on a project In FCP and I know I am already sending the project to motion but some of the clips need steady cam. Does motion do a better job than final cut for motion tracking and apple’s steady cam filter? Or should I apply the steady cam filter in FCP and bake the clip before sending the project to motion?

It’s the same underlying process so shouldn’t matter where you do it.

IOW, if you apply the SmoothCam filter in FCP and then send that clip to Motion, Motion converts the filter to the Stabilize behavior with exactly the same results.
