FWIW Perian seems to be toxic to FCP 7 and FCPX among other things. Ditch that application if you have it installed. I once spent a very tense 3 days recovering from damage done by Perian.

  • What is working for me is shift click dragging on the center tool in transform window for horizontally constrained movement and command shift dragging not the same tool for vertically constrained movement .

I’ve seen this before with other file based footage other than sony. Are you sure you have all proper sony plug ins loaded? THat has been the root cause for m green clip experience in the past, not having the necessary plug in loaded, that is.

I seem to have resolved the FCP7 ingest issue with my C300 footage. Perhaps I had the wrong XF plug in all I know is one I installed the 1.3.1 plug in everything settled down. Now on to being productive.

I’m certain its C300 footage. I shot it with my camera. I think I loaded the correct XF plug in as well. What mystifies me even more is why FCP 7 doesn’t play nice with the MXF files that i converted to pro res.

  • Right but …. the effects of solutions you try may can vary widely depending on the composition of the image… and by that i mean the contents of the frame. What might sort of work for one frame will be totally wrong for another frame

  • An editor friend of mine once defined one of the difference between a DP and an editor. He said : As an editor I can screw around with my material all day and if it isn’t working I can hit the “undo” key a bunch of time and get back to a place I like better. DP ‘s don’t have “undo” keys like editors, if they undo, its all real time undo, – move the key light 5 feet left and 3 feet back. This is why DP’s get paid the big bucks ”

Unfortunately if you didnt get the image right in camera the first time, no plug in will save your focus issue. I can pretty much guarantee you the first person that creates a plug in that does refocusing in post in post will make a fortune or two.

I had a similar issue on my Mac mini once which is one of my fcpx machines . I had to sort through the various video codecs installed and eliminate a corrupted codec plugin which solved the problem for me .

I did that, but I the help file doesn’t specify being in list view as instead of film strip view. That one little addition to the instructions would make a huge difference in the outcome

List view is the key to batch rename. Batch rename will work in filmstrip view but its wonky, bug laden, or just plain unpredictable.
