I’ve seen this before with other file based footage other than sony. Are you sure you have all proper sony plug ins loaded? THat has been the root cause for m green clip experience in the past, not having the necessary plug in loaded, that is.

I also saw this when I didn’t have the Sony CODEC module / plugin loaded.

When you do get the footage working, there is no tc reader filter in FCPX.

Someone made a custom one a long time ago, but then it broke.

You can use a Compressor setting with the tc filter on, but you have to do each clip, one by one, from FCPX.

The only solution is to take the files from the import and put those in compressor and add the tc reader function.

Figured as much on both counts…need the plug in for XDCAM in FCPX and there is no timecode reader option (BTW, a professional option) so it is a non-starter.

A plugin to read footage isn’t so bad. You needed some for FCP7 too, but a TC Reader is a basic human need at this point.

Agreed.

If you have only a few long clips to export for transcripts you can use Open in Timeline and drop the Timecode generator or the TimeCode Effect on the clips in their timeline. This will give you the correct burnt-in source time code and you can export to any format straight from this timeline.

But if you have a load of short clips to export this method takes too much time. We absolutely need a time code reader that reads source tc from the clips on our main timeline.
