    Pablo,
I used premier for 3 years and now fcp for just over one.

As an editor fcp has a deeper feature set.

As an nle which is geared for short promo pieces with lots of compositing and effects as well as a far deeper plugin architecture, premier pro is better.

They are very similar in many ways, definitely no clear winner here.

both the poltergiest FCP with no keyboard commands and the compressor not working issues were sorted by a reinstall… next time I will try the settings/disk utilities/permissions etc first.

    Tell me about it!

When I started the re-install, the Installer said 500mb, and now it says 4 hours to go!
    Insane.

Apple really should get it together. One should be able to uninstall and reinstall any component without any problem.

    hi jeff

yeah very nice on first glance, but the edges… did you have a soft filter on the edges, or is that what the lens on that camera does? If its the camera, hmmm im not sure i would be too chuffed with that… unless it cost $100 or something.

    samantha’s soo cute.

    thanks rafael,
at the moment i am reinstalling fcp and compressor, because compressor is not loading properly. I will try that if this does not work.

now fcp is trying to install audio content even though i had deselected them – grrrr…

    Hi there
I am using Leopard, and FCP is doing nothing at all!
Reloading the finder does not work, neither does rebooting the computer or FCP.
    This is very strange.
    tx anyway.

  • Hi guys
and thank you all for your input.

the settings I used were 720p 25fps and i am pretty sure that i would have been using auto setting for the one that was worst (i dont have that footage to show you) but it is so subtle on the camera, especially when grabbing stuff quickly and on-the-fly, that the idea of fiddling with shutter speeds was never an issue. Most of the time, on the quality of work I am doing, I do not take lights, and simply make the most of what’s available in a short time, so it HAS to be able to work under regular office fluorescent lighting. (i must try to find that flicker function in the menu!)

i cant return to any of the places where it occurred but will definitely do some tests when my camera is next in use in fluorescent conditions.

tx again fellas, i will report back!
    Mark.
