This is because ProRes422 HQ is running at an average bit rate of 220 Mb/s and your drives are running at an average of 150 Mb/s.
This means your drives aren’t fast enough for ProRes422 HQ.

Are you talking about the fact that it ONLY copies the media but not all of the components inside your project?
As far as I have known, Media Manager only deals with the captured media in the Final Cut Pro Documents – Capture Scratch folder. Its never copied across any of my artwork, music files or Motion projects. I have to do this myself. Now, it would be nice if Media Manager did this, but it never has for myself.

Ok, David… I can’t let this go past me without saying something…
Fine, leave FCP and go to Adobe. FCS 3’s full price is what? $999. Adobe’s Creative Suite full price? $1699.
Hmmm….. That’s $700 difference. Hmmmm…. And it’s not near as friendly or industry standardized as much as FCS has gotten.
So, let me ask you this. How many multi-level BluRay discs do you make for clients? Do you ALWAYS create BluRay disc with lots of menus and lots of features? Or do you do lots of one-offs for client approval?
Listen to Walter, Encore’s BluRay has a lot to be desired. Personally, for the one-offs I use Roxio’s Toast to make my BluRay discs.
As for LiveType, what kind of work do you do that absolutely requires LiveType? Have you tried Motion? Did you know that if you have text that need to changed within you Motion projects, you can do this from within FCP? You don’t have to do any round tripping. Sure, the animation effects aren’t as easy as LiveType’s but they are getting so very out-dated (the ones I see being used).
Before knocking FCS3 down and complaining until you burst a blood vessel in your neck, give it a try… The upgrade is $300 cheaper that Adobe’s. Check it out.

So…. When was the last time you bought any gas for your car?
Be it, $999 or $299, the price is more than fair. Compare this to Adobe’s Creative Suite. Can you buy that for $999? I don’t think so…. Can you upgrade from CS3 to CS4 for $299? Nope.
So tell me, where’s the complaint now?

Yeah…. That’s the way to do it, BUT its tough to convince the money folks to spend another $3k for the software when we already own the CPC Caption software on the PC.
It would be nice to be able to plug in the CPC file right into FCP on a caption track or something.

New options let you output video with captioning to tape as well as to formats for web playback.”Well… Its always been able to preserve the caption track from a captured source in our facility. But I’d like to be able to include a caption file like a file that comes from our caption software to use in FCP to create a complete air copy with captioning, without having to use our encoder (which is SD only).

Whoa! Slow down, Erik.
The real differences you are seeing are a budgetary standing… FCS3 has a full price of $999, whereas the other software packages that do this high-end sort of thing you are wanting are a much higher price range.
Think about it.
While the things you are wanting are reasonable, Apple does have to look at a price point for themselves and for us.
Maybe the UI could use some work, but it works well for most of us. There will always be someone who wants more than they can get. Realtime alpha channels would be nice and there are lots of things that we need such as optical flow inside of FCP. Let’s be reasonable about this.
Give Apple time… As the popularity of FCP grows in Hollywood, so will the software.
Personally, I’d love to see closed captioning added as a track and use of third-party captioning files on the timeline… But I’m sure that’s a future thing that will eventually come down the road.
