Funny how this is all playing out. Maybe this is why Apple didn’t fix the things we wanted in the first place. Maybe, just maybe, Apple is trying to get us to look forward instead of looking backwards.
Its easier to replace than to fix for everyone. Its nice to see that Russell pointed out one of the MOST important features of the upgrade.
Now, my curiosity is wanting to know if Apple fixed the HDV-ProRes conversion to full raster 1920×1080, instead of the current 1440×1080 (which is standard for HDV).

This is a HUGE advancement for us.
Lots of us are still looking at all of the other stuff. But how many here have to output to DVD or the Internet for every project – client approvals. I would bet a large part of us.
Now, we don’t have to export a Quicktime file from FCP, open in Compressor to compress it and send it to the Internet or to DVD Studio Pro to make your DVDs. Let’s not talk about Blu-Ray as we know it currently.
A HUGE TIME SAVING and SPACE SAVING FEATURE!

Ah hah… I see said the blind man!
Well, you have two option here… One don’t upgrade anymore or convert all of your LiveType projects into Motion projects.
Like your signature says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.–Ferris Bueller” Well, you’re on the super highway and a new off ramp is coming up.

Why?
You can’t edit your text in FCP thru LiveType. You can with Motion files. Besides moving groups of text in LiveType was a real pain. There are so many reasons why LiveType was finally killed. Besides the ease of applying animations to text, LiveType was always a thorn in our sides.

This is done in version 6 of FCS2. Now, if you had a pre-existing copy of LiveType installed, it still works, but it wasn’t any part of the FCS2 install. BTW, Motion is much better with text than Livetype except for the pre-built animations in LiveType.
As for the rest of your rant…. I agree whole-heartedly!
The only other thing that you didn’t mention was anything about the multi-processor support. Apple doesn’t need Snow Leopard for this…. We’ve been doing this for a longtime in other apps.

No…. Sadly and very disappointedly… No.
Apple still stands by the statement that Steve Jobs made saying they will never fully support Blu-Ray because they feel its a stepping stone in the advancement of HD to the Internet.
BUT…
At least they did make Compressor easier to use when compressing to Blu-Ray and from what I read at Apple’s website, Compressor will be able to burn Blu-Ray straight from Compressor.
It looks like to me that Apple is trying to phase out DVD Studio Pro and combine it with Compressor for a total creation package.
