Do you have Adobe Flash? What version of FCP are you using? What version of Quicktime do you have?
Quicktime does not come with any FLV Export plugin. You must have purchased a Flash type program that exports thru Quicktime to get that support, such as On2 Flash Exporter or Adobe Flash.

All very true… but when your program comes to air, can you really see the difference? The timelines I have been fighting with are for ESPN. They air HD in 720p, so I have to cross-convert to 720p on output. The reasoning…. our cameras only shoot 1080, not 720. But the Kona 3 gives me that option.
I’ve rendered lots of graphics thru DVCProHD and I honestly cannot see a visible difference in the quality of the programs. Besides all of this… a lot of networks are airing DVCProHD as one of their main formats.

Another good one… But most of the time, I have stuff that has to go out the door today, so I don’t have the luxury of overnight renderings most of the time. Besides… what happens when FCP has crashed in the middle of the night and you get into to your work and find out that you didn’t get anything rendered? That has bitten me before.

Its a real shame that marketing is allowed to make ANY claims they want to sell a product, even if they are not true. They shouldn’t be allowed to do that… but they do it anyway.
As a comparison… I have a 10 sec show slate that was made in Motion. Rending in ProRes422, it takes about 20 minutes. Rendering the exact same slate with the same information inside using DVCProHD takes only about three minutes.
Can anyone tell me why ProRes 422 is better if it takes about four times longer to render? Isn’t time expensive?

No… You’re not crazy at all.
I, too, am having issues with rendering ProRes 422. But I do know for a fact that ProRes422HQ and PAL do not work well at all. There has always been issues with FCP and PAL for many years now.
I am also frustrated with this slow rendering… It’s costing me and my company money on wasted time rendering.

Sorry to hear about your problem you are facing but there is a little lesson here. Drives are cheap and easy to install. You need to clone your system drive before making ANY updates, no matter how insignificant they may seem. If a problem does arise, just boot to the clone drive and clone back to your main system drive.
On another note, I’m still using Leopard and I’m having issues with this too but not near as much as you.
My new issue is my timelines becoming fully unrendered when I start my Mac in the morning or changing projects. This has happened every single time in the past week, even after performing the usual maintaInance.

Looks like a pattern is emerging here…
Mine is much much better after a complete reinstall and cleanup but I still see it on occasions.

I know this sounds elementary, but have you uninstalled the AJA drivers, reset your permissions, deleted your prefs and reinstalled. I ask because I saw a similar issue with XDCAM and this procedure solved my issues.
Make sure that you fully uninstall the AJA software.

Well…. This is just pure speculation and more than likely will never happen…
But maybe, Apple is looking for someone to take over the Pro Apps market from them. As any corporation will do, look for alternatives to your divisions rather than letting me suffer. I’m sure that Apple isn’t hurting for capital but they still need to look at the future. The same with Autodesk.
