Yes, it does. That’s how I’m using it most of the time.

Hey gang, thanks for all your help but nothing seems to work. I am at a total loss for words on this. The conclusion seems to be that I can’t use After Effects on that particular system until Adobe updates After Effects and I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I do know that Adobe better get on the ball, Apple Motion 2 is going to kill Adobe Affter Effects in the long run if Adobe doesn’t try to match it sometime soon.

That sounds really weird. You are using the Kona2 1.1.1 version of the drivers, right? I can digitize to any format using the A/V SDI Easy Setup. As a matter of fact, I use Flip4Mac plugin which imports the IMX file without digitizing and the I have to plae the IMX codec file on to an 8-bit Uncompressed timeline or I can use a 10-bit UC timeline.
By the way, for future reference, you might want to consider digitizing at 8-bit rather than 10-bit. IMX codec is an 8-bit codec. So any higher quality is just wasted drive space.

Obvisiously, this is a bug in the software because I see this also. I did notice that your Capture Settings and your Easy Setups MUST match exactly. That’s an observation that I found today.

IMX 50 is a wonderful format! We are using Sony’s XDCAM which uses discs, not tape. Its absolutely awesome BUT FCP is way behind on this format for proper support. Most all of the other major software packages support it fully, not partially like FCP. For field acquisition, XDCAM is the best out there. It can take incredible amounts of abuse and still shoot. There are no more break ups when shooting from a helicopter. It can shoot footage in -30 degree weather without a hiccup. And I don’t think, you’ll ever see the Humid warning light. There’s no cue time if you want to review a clip that you just shot, you just pick the thumbnail from the menu and view it. When you hit stop and punch the record button, it starts a whole new clip without over-writing the clip you just previewed. And here’s a real nice feature. It with pre-record up to 12 seconds of video and audio before you hit the record button, so you don’t miss those quick shots because your thumb wasn’t fast enough. Another thing, the picutre quality is second to none! No, it’s not digibeta but it very cost effective compared to digibeta with equal picture quality.
I must sound like a Sony salesman… I will say that I am totally impressed with this format and I’ve been doing this for more than 20 years now.

Oh yes… That works just fine. But you’ll haave to capture it using DVCPRO50 because there isn’t any IMX support in FCP 4.5. The footage looks great.
My whole beef is that I spent $699 for the FCS Upgrade from FCP 4.5 and then we spent the $495 with Telestream for the MXF Import plugin so that we didn’t have to digitize anymore. You know, save time. Obvisiously, it doesn’t mean save money. Myself and a co-worker went out to NAB and talked directly with Telestream and Apple. Apple failed to mention that IMX support only applies to IMX 50 as native and compatible with 40 and 30 m/bits. And here’s the real kicker… It only works with Mirror Door G4s and G5. Not the QuickSilver 2002 model that I have because the bus speed is too slow. But Apple will still say that it works with all G4s.
So my advice to you. If you have a QuickSilver 2002 G4, you’d better upgrade it to a G5 before upgrading to FCP 5.0 or FCS, otherwise the software upgrade is absolutely no going to benefit you at all. Well, except for Soundtrack Pro. So until I can upgrade the computer, I’ll have to Log & Capture and Batch Digitize in DVCPRO50 all the IMX 40 footage that I have (which is about 13 shows) until I reach a show that will be shot in IMX 50. So much for convience…

I’ve tried it and Batch Capture opens the Log & Capture window then opens the Batch Capture dialog box and then it all closes. That’s all it does.

Done it! It doesn’t seem to be any different at all. But thanks for trying.

I wish I could save… Sometimes I do have FCP 5.0 open and sometimes I don’t. But thanks, it was worth a shot.
