Partially, true…
I have found that this feature is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It sounds nice and looks nice but it’s extremely slow. On a 30 minute program, pretty much any compression, you’re looking at least 2 1/2 hours just to compress and write. Last time I tried it with a ProRes422 timeline, the estimator said it was going to take 9 hours to compress, and this was after about 20 minutes of compressing.
Your much better off using Compressor or DVD Studio Pro for this.

I agree with David on the 24p conversion. BUT… you can try the Nattress Standards Converter 2.5

I’ve had pretty good success with thee filters and any filter that Graeme Nattress has written. Give it a try and I hope all works out well.

This error occurs when the camera that shot the tapes isn’t setup properly. If you own the camera, do this.
Go into the Menu settings, find the area on timecode and set you camera to either DF or NDF, not Auto. The default for Sony HDV camcorders is to have the timecode set to Auto. This creates lots of confusion for Final Cut Pro.

I agree with Kevin on this…
BUT…. if you don’t have that filter or the school will not allow you to use that filter on you edit station, then… you could theoretically shoot in 25i and use a little know tool in the Tools menu called “Conform 25 to 24”. This should give you what you want.
My best advice to ANYONE starting a new project with a new workflow is to try a test first and see if it works for you. If so, good luck!

The Sony Z1U does not shoot 24p. But it does shot what’s called Cineframe 24 which is a software converted 24p. Honestly, it looks like crap to me.

Looking back on this issue makes me wonder why Sony allows XDCDAM HD to record 8 channels of audio (well, not on the PDW-F70 deck) and the Transfer software ONLY allows you to import the first four channels.
BUT now, with the 2.12.0 release of the software, you can now check the monitoring of ALL eight channels. So, I would assume if your camera or deck (not the F70) was setup to record eight channels, you can now import all eight channels.

Did you uninstall the old driver first before installing 7.5.1?
I ask, because I’ve not seen an issues with my setup using the 7.5.1 driver set.
