Posted by Frank Mulder on April 20, 2010 at 3:08 pm

    Hi,

I use Sony XDCAM Transfer to import into FCP, but when I get MXF files which have 8 channels, I get the message Ïmport error” The number of bytes per sample for D10 audio must be 2 or 3.

    Anyone a trick or workaround?

Thanks for your time and attention.

Or just download the newest version of the software that just came out.

    I’ll say it again:

    https://Www.mxf4mac.com

it’s the only MXF software you need.

Looking back on this issue makes me wonder why Sony allows XDCDAM HD to record 8 channels of audio (well, not on the PDW-F70 deck) and the Transfer software ONLY allows you to import the first four channels.

BUT now, with the 2.12.0 release of the software, you can now check the monitoring of ALL eight channels. So, I would assume if your camera or deck (not the F70) was setup to record eight channels, you can now import all eight channels.

    Hi Wayne,

It’s not that I want to import 8 channels. 2 or 4 would be sufficient. This afternoon I got new material which was 8 channel, 16 bit. I assumed it would give the same error, but it did’nt. (Confused).

There is an option where I can click ‘Only import monitored audio channels’ In combination with the general setting to monitor only audio channels 1/2 & 3/4 makes the error disappear.

    Thanks everybody for your reactions.
