I could not figure this out either, but I think I could do that with SVP 10. There was a Webinar that Sony presented during the Q&A that covered this topic. On this forum, people have recommended the free utility: ImgBurn
https://www.imgburn.com/The nice thing with imgburn is that I can run two instances at the same time to burn to both DVD burners I have in my system, for the times I am making a home video for family and friends.

October 9, 2012 at 2:44 am in reply to: Edit nested Vegas Allways opens in previous versionI had the some thing. Even though Windows explorer had .veg associated to SVP 12, I found in the registry that SVP 11 (aka vegas110) was the default.
Regedit
Find: HKCUsoftwareclasses.veg REG_SZ vegas110
Change to: HKCUsoftwareclasses.veg REG_SZ vegas120If you are interested, I used ProcessMon from Microsoft to capture what SVP 12 was doing when it launched the nested veg file.

I kept going to the NewBlue web site but they don’t list a version 2. Is it a special early release for Sony customers. I was going to upgrade, but held back because I could not think of a good reason why NewBlue would not announce it on their site. I’m glad to hear it is working better for you.

It would seem that way, but it looks like if you get it at the upgrade price you have to get Pro and not Edit. $139 for the Pro upgrade seemed reasonable to me.

Thanks. I was probably working with Media Manager and had it open for a while. I saw a post by Stephen Mann about checking GDI objects in task manager and was surprised to see my Vegas120.exe having over 4,700 GDI objects and a few thousand handles open too. Now that I try to keep an eye on it, the GDI objects are usually under 1,000. It might have been when I was looking at the Boris BCC 8.1 3D Lens Flare after watching that Webinar on the Hulk Animation the other day. There are a lot of controls in those OFX dialogs and that may have caused it to be high. Have you ever needed to bump up the limit of 10,000 GDI objects per process limit that Windows 7 has in the registry?

My Nvidia GTX 570 with 306.23 drivers seems to perform well most of the time. I have had a couple occasions where the Video preview window just displays solid red. If I terminate and go back in, it is fine. I suspect it is more with the Nvidia drivers, but still very usable and I am able to do my hobby based projects well, but I am not stressing it too much. I like the BCC 8 filter handles in the preview window, but sometimes the handles are not exactly in the corners (beat reactor is an example). I saw this in SVP 11 too. But overall the OFX plugins seem to be more stable in SVP 12.

Being a new laptop, you may want to check your power management settings and change it to a high performance setting when editing. Usually this will display as some type of battery icon in the systray (lower right hand side of the desktop screen). Otherwise it will be trying to conserve power by slowing down devices and turning off things that it thinks are not being used. This might explain why it worked the third time when you tried.

What does “real-time rendering” mean?
Real-time rendering applies to an audio-only render. The new input bus functionality makes it possible to route audio from your project’s tracks out to an external hardware effects processing unit like a compressor or delay unit and then back into your Vegas Pro project (through an input bus) and on to your final audio mix. This enables you to utilize your hardware effects processing gear in your Vegas Pro audio mix. In order to take full advantage of this workflow, there must be some way to render your project so that the signal from your outboard hardware is mixed in with the output from your Vegas Pro timeline. Normal audio-only rendering is almost always a faster-than-real-time operation. Since your outboard hardware gear can only operate in real time, Vegas Pro has to be able to slow down and render in real time as well so the audio you specify can pass through the outboard gear and on to the final rendered project. That’s the main purpose of real-time rendering. Another use for this feature is for you to listen to your project audio as you render it, thus giving you a chance for a final review of the audio even while you’re creating the audio file. -

October 5, 2012 at 6:12 am in reply to: Vegas 12 -PNG Images getting Warped when Resizing in Event Pan/CropI tried on my system and it worked fine for me. Using 1920×1080 m2ts video with a png picture on the track above. I set the picture crop to Match Output Aspect and then proceeded to scale and reposition the image. I double checked to make sure I had the GPU on under the Video tab in Preferences.

I bought the upgrade, since I had some small projects created with the beta version that I still wanted to work on.
