  • Burning AVC Blu Ray project from DVDA onto DVD

    Hi,

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 11 and DVDA 5.2.

I would like to know if there is a way to author and burn a Hybrid DVD (i.e. 1440 x 1080 footage onto a 4.7GB DVD) using DVDA? Otherwise, can I prepare the project in DVDA, then burn the image file using another application like Nero 12?

It appears that DVDA only has a preset to burn HD using Blu Ray, and SD using DVD.

I have a DVD burner, and a Blu Ray player capable of playing this sort of disc.

If you need any further details, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

I could not figure this out either, but I think I could do that with SVP 10. There was a Webinar that Sony presented during the Q&A that covered this topic. On this forum, people have recommended the free utility: ImgBurn
    https://www.imgburn.com/

The nice thing with imgburn is that I can run two instances at the same time to burn to both DVD burners I have in my system, for the times I am making a home video for family and friends.

    [Michael Denford] “burn a Hybrid DVD (i.e. 1440 x 1080 footage onto a 4.7GB DVD)”

I am not sure what you mean by Hybrid DVD. DVDA can separately create/burn Blu-rays and DVDs from content prepared using the correct templates from Vegas, but it cannot burn content as Blu-ray on a DVD.

DVDA can also burn to DVD and Blu-ray, but if you want to use multiple burners, then yes, a 3rd party application is required. I use Nero Burning ROM to burn to 3 burners at once.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 11 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

My interpretation of the hybrid, is taking a BluRay ISO created in Vegas that has 15 or so minutes of content and burning that to DVD media. The resulting DVD media must be played in a BluRay player, but you get to use the much cheaper media with the benefits of have HD content.
