Preview not working right?
Hi. I have Sony Vegas HD. i’ve only used it in the past on a 6-yr-old laptop so everything was really laggy, but even on that the Preview worked great. Now i have a new laptop (i can give what details you might need if you want) any everything is working fine, except when i go to render for the Preview in Player, the preview comes up and the audio is totally messed up and choppy (you can’t even tell it’s music) and the video is messed up (i.e. it lags so bad it basically stays at the title screen the whole time, and another time it only rendered a couple seconds of the video, still with bad audio).
Any one know what the problem is? I’m kind of annoyed because i can finally do my videos on a competent computer and now this is messing with me.

edit: i just tried again with a different setting and it worked fine, though it only rendered about half the video/audio.
edit II: tried again and it worked fine. Though i’ll keep this up in case. I didn’t really do anything different though, so why did it work this time?

What specific version of Vegas is it?

And, well it uses Windows 7 home edition. the computer is a samsung series 7 chronos hdmi with NVIDIA graphics card, intel i7 processor, 8 gigs ram. I believe i worded that right, not sure what else you may want to know.

The playback is laggy because you are probably rendering
out in an Uncompressed HD format or something similar.
Do your HD renders instead using the Quicktime photo-JPEG
or Quicktime PNG format and see if it plays well.Steve Rhoden

Being a new laptop, you may want to check your power management settings and change it to a high performance setting when editing. Usually this will display as some type of battery icon in the systray (lower right hand side of the desktop screen). Otherwise it will be trying to conserve power by slowing down devices and turning off things that it thinks are not being used. This might explain why it worked the third time when you tried.
