The SONY 422 is fine for playback but you need the Panasonic 422 driver for pb/rec

  • We use an extensive database for library, contact management, estimating, scheduling, time reporting, and invoicing. And it’s free- because we made it ourselves w/ PHP & MySQL. I’ve considered distributing it as a package but I think that would violate something I must have signed years ago. If this were an HTML forum I’d post screenies.

If you already know Perl or PHP you’re in luck. I’d recommend pushing out simple EDLs and stealing the TC-to-frames and frames-to-tc functions from this site:

June 23, 2005 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Dummy/Proxy Clips?

What I’m really trying to do is to work around FCP’s klunky keyframing model. If I could apply effects as clips then I would be able to do what I need with far less cursing & spitting.

Here’s what I’d like to do:
    [x]
    [clip]

where the x clip is the “dummy” – now, stick a blur that grows & a cc the clips it to white and you have a nice white flash effect w/o the mess that you can copy/paste and store in a library (a graphical way to homebrew simple effects that you would have had to do w/ FXScript or C previously). I know it’s possible. I just don’t know how to do it.

What about all this talk about LiveTitle integration? Has the media manager become more intuivit/usable? In other words, can FCP5 trim an offline in less than 50 steps?

So, what would I need to use my SGI monitor to view an HD-SDI signal?

The monitor has both a VGA input and an SGI input switchable. Currently I use it for the Mac’s 2nd monitor and to view our old SGI (which we are phasing out).

    Googling turned up this:

I can’t seem to find pricing, either.

  • That works sometimes but not others. I still end up with shifted keyframes even though I pasted content of exactly the same length. Weird.

In general shifting keyframes is an insane pain in the rear and utterly unreliable in FCP. My understanding is that it’s no bettter in FCP5.

What about this new X-SCSI technology that Paralan is pushing to make less expensive RAIDs? I can’t imagine the terms “less expensive” and “SCSI” in the same sentence, but there you go.

Mistika is the new iteration. From what I understand it’s basically Jaleo 3.5 with a sexy new interface. Still, it runs on an SGI with next to no Quicktime support. It’s an island unto itself, unfortunately. If it weren’t, I’d gladly be running it right now.

In Jaleo (what I used to use) it assumed that anything beyond the clip’s edges was a still. That rocked.

You could also do all sorts of nifty things to groups without much trouble. Dang I miss that thing.
