I saw that thread but I’m interested in real spill correction or color-swapping but I can’t seem to find any info on those subjects in that thread or the subsequent links.

This is really weird. I followed the same steps that worked before:
    https://www.lafcpug.org/FCP_4_trim_dang_it.html

but it still wanted me to capture 1hour+ of media for 2 TV :30s

I ended up exporting an EDL of the timecoded material and batch digitizing from there. I’ve not seen it previously, but I think it may have to do with the fact that the source clips are quite long and loose (4 minutes each).

Has anyone else run into this?

Are you trying to write to the same disc your reading from to do the FCP output? If so, that might not be the best idea. It makes sense to render to your system disc and copy it over later. Besides, it’s a good idea to keep your project files on a seperate disc anyway.

Also, I have better luck with compositing in FCP if I just bring the livetype project into FCP and render it w/ everything else. It can be a hassle when you constantly have to reconnect the media, but it renders everything at the same time (no double-step renders)- a bit slower but handy from a workflow standpoint.

It depends on your card. It’s best to set up a pair of output modules, one for non-alpha stuff that can play back in real time on your card (i.e. BlackMagic 10 Bit) and another with alpha (taje lossless w/ alpha & change “premult” to “straight”).
