I think that I am having a hard time understanding your project…..I’m sure that it must be something pretty cool (I really like you basketball stuff on the Boris site).

If you make 9 cubes, select multiple faces, then turn all off except front and back. Map the right media. Align all cubes to make the grid (There will have to be some fine adjustements made to spin and tumble due to perspective).
Now, drop all of these tracks into a 3d container and set the containers renderer to 3d model…this will enable you to rotate, spin or tumble all of the layers together whilst retaining their 3d properties (An offset often helps to sell the effect)..

Am I understanding what you are trying to acheive ?? Sorry if not 🙂

Again, congrats on your work…I would like to see your mughsot up at the top of this page, as I think that a lot of people could learn a lot from you.

February 16, 2006 at 6:54 pm in reply to: Transparency problem in BorisFX & Premiere Pro 2 ?

Ok Michael….I,m going to try and understand…I own Premiere Pro 2, but to be honest I use Avid Liquid (Personal taste)….So I have never used Borisfx inside of Premiere Pro..That said, there are some basics that exist throughout the non-linear plug-in world where Boris is involved…..NLEs do not pass Alpha info along to Borisfx….so, if your transition uses anything that has created an alpha (DVE move in NLE, keyed or composited logo in NLE), that info will not make it Boris. To get the alpha info to Boris, that file needs to be taken directly from the hard drive and into Borisfx.

I’m not sure if this is what is going on….OpenGL is only for preview acceleration inside Borisfx, changing its settings will have no change on render.

    Hope this helps,

Could you not used cubes and close all but 2 faces of the cubes ??? You could create the 9 cubes necessary by creating one and duplicating, then simply animating a spin on the cubes….this way your back face would not be distorted….

February 16, 2006 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Fire Effects in Boris FX 8 !!!

That effect is actually much easier than you think…

Shoot the hand on blue screen, although I suspect that this is a still that has been rotoscoped. Apply the fire filter, then inside the fire filter there is a setting to apply to edges only…..you then have to specify the track to use for the edges…guess what, that hand is your track to be used for edges. Really, it is that easy to do this effect.

    Wow,
Thanks for the information Doug. I really didn’t know about that. Sounds like diversity system could be pricey. At first I was looking around 700usd per system, but then I saw the Azden system for that price for 2. I would like the security of your diversity, but to be honest I’m kind of shopping a price 🙂

    Thanks again for the explanation.

Take any video, strech it out on the y value, around 2000%….Add gausian blur and glow to get really nice highlights….also add the levels filter to create a higher contrast. Now animate the y position as fast as you like….
This is a good starting point….will need some tweaking, but will definately get you where you want to go.

February 15, 2006 at 4:21 pm in reply to: Navigation Issues-PLEASE HELP

It would appear to me that this would be a next title rather than next chapter….I know my DVD remote at home lets me search by chapter, or by title…since this is another timeline, then it is definately not simply another chapter.

I get these errors sometimes with other software…I always find it a good idea to do a shutdown before burning a DVD…I also make sure that any antivirus software is closed.

    Thanks

Actually, I don’t yet own any system. The Azdens say that they have 63 channels…..I figure that should be enough to avoid interference….what worries me is that replacment Lavs are only like 25$…..I’m thinking that the quality can’t be all that good….
