Try deleting the preference files before trying a re-install

Follow these steps and let me know if it helps.

Import your footage.

Drag said footage onto new comp icon at bottom of project window (thisd ensure comp settings match file)

Right click on footage in project window and remove de-interlacing (set to none)

Change composition frame rate to 23.976

Apply magic bullet and click auto set-up.

Please do steps in this order and let me know if it helps…this is how I use the bullet and I have never yet had any issues.

I usually colour correct in my NLE, then ship the file out to AE.

Here is one of my favourite tricks. I use the tint filter. A lot of people I assume use this filter. But here is the difference….apply the tint filter to an adjustement layer, then play around with transfer modes on the adjustement layer. Example: for a late seventies look, make the tint something towards majenta and set the adjustement to add, now lower the opacity of the adjustement layer….Warm up the footage ???? Use colors towards brown and orange and play around with soft light and those inds of transfer modes. TRy adding a gaussian blur before the tint filter…set the blur to taste, but with this method you can have some awesome looks.

I said tint as the filter, because it ships with AE, but usually I prefer to use BCC4 tritone. It just gives me more control.

I prefer to do all editing, be it sound or video in an editing program. Much faster and much more effecient. I then take the edit (sound & video) into AE for the fun bits 🙂

Your options are to either mask out the actor in after effects and animate the mask….OR export the sequence as a TGA or other still based format sequence. You can then bring that into Photoshop, cut him out, and the import the new sequence. To achieve the seperation, set both layers (cutout and original as 3d layers), then set the cutout position to a negative Z position.
Now scale the layer back down to original size. If you animate a camera, you will see the z-space seperation….decrease the negative number and you will get more seperation (-100 will give more seperation than -50)

You can use set channels and map the channels that you don’t want to see to off.

Thanks for the help….

Finally to locate the buttons, I took the menu into photoshop via the dynamic link. There still were no buttons visible, but at least I was able to delete the layers inside photoshop and fix the errors that I was getting in the check disk.

Make sure that you use a CODEC that supports alpha channels. TRy something like QT animation codec and set the mode to millions of colors +
