I wnated to import the media, but unfortunately the option wouldn’t do anything…was really weird. Anyhow, the manual copying of the MXF files worked perfectly. Everything relinked in the project, the media tool saw the media, and of course the producer sitting next to me was more than happy that we did not have to recut.

Change it, then save your workspace. That should do the trick….me thinks….

I would normally edit in Premiere (I use Avid, but am letting you know of my workflow), then I ship the color-corrected picture lock over to AE for some fun….Next I would render out the cleanest file that I could (Uncompressed QT or Animation Codec QT), next I would bring that file into either an authoring programme that has encoding (Encore), or something like Squeeze from Sorenson to create the MPG2 file. Along this whole workflow I would try and stay in the same realm as my original footage…If working with DV footage, then i would export the footage as DV and probably render out in DV….with HD material I would rtanscode to one of Avid’s DNX codecs before exporting from Avid.
Now, if you have Premiere Pro and After effects, I would strongly suggest upgrading to the Creative Suite…..this would allow you to move assets between Premiere-Soundbooth-After effects and finally Encore without the need to render.

Are you using MP3 files ??? AE doesn’t like MP3 files. Also, I am not sure why you are receiving the error that you are receiving, but I suggested the Render Queue as you could try rendering out without sound. There is possibly a preference that you can set, in fact I am almost sure there is, but my I am rendering at the moment and cannot check for you.

Try rendering using the Make movie method…this adds your project to the render queue where you have more control of final output, including being able to disable audio. I never use the export function.

Before creating the multicam group, rename the clips so that the sound that you want lists first in the bin…eg A-cam 1 B-cam-2 and then organize bin by name. Then create the groupclip and the sound will come from the first clip in the bin. If you want sound from another clip, simply matchframe it in the timeline, then cut the sound in and extend to needs.
hope this helps

I used the import clips to bin, but when I closed the app all clips went offline and would not relink…..so here is what got them back online :
I did a star-search for MXF files in the directory containing the P” files (*.MXF), then copied all of these clips into the Avid MXF folder. Mc then rescanned my drive and voilà all clips were back online. I worked in the native resolution, but when i had to go to After Effects I transcoded the final edit to DNX.

The only time that I ever saw this was when exporting uncompressed AVI out of Liquid Blue (It uses Liquid’s own propriatary codec)…simply exporting to QT animation from Liquid solved the problem….what is the source of your footage ?????
