Hi.
What i have experienced with vhs that they do not keep picture in sync so to say and if it jumps, has break on it etc then all the pro kind capture cards go mad. I have solved this pretty eazy capturing from Sony small DV camera in such way that i have connected VHS output to DV cameras analogue input and on pass trough mode sent all the picture then to computer as DV. Never had sync or jumping problem this way.

Generally good R&D project for free time 🙂 I liked specially drive part as i just have some failed seagates. Which hitachis to look at i wonder as there is probably enterprize and consumer models?—

SDI Video Output 2 x 10 bit SD, HD, 3Gb/s HD and 2K switchable. Usable as Dual Link HD-SDI for 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 connection or 3 Gb/s for HD-SDI 4:4:4 or 2K.

You should ask detailed specs for this circle if tested with some sort of system. Usually pops or pips are used visually on edit.

I would export my program to just one file and play it out on BM system. Does not really matter what system. Formats have to mach and system must be able to play out that format to this specific tape.
So just export one small part of your show and test it out.

Try and go with ProRez. If it works use that. DV has less color information and may give you head ace 🙂
Option would be replacing external drive to FW 800 or something better.

Depends what is your goal and what you final delivery needs.
You can edit in HD if your system is up to it and later scale down
as PAL anamorphic or just PAL fitted in with to 720*576 from hd.
This gives you option to output final program as HD also if needed.
If you go and scale down to SD before edit it would be much harder to make HD edit on SD material.More like question of taste.
Generally pal is 25 frames per second or 50i. 25 full frames gives you bit more movie look.

It is simple, they just have to drop price or go under.
I wonder what machine did you use for scope ?
In ideal i would go with really small and passive cooled machine.—
