Just curious. Why are you using After Effects and Instant HD in this project as opposed to Boris RED?

Thanks for the update on Blue. When Blue was first introduced I wasn’t sure what it was “all about” until someone made a general comparison to Zaxwerks Pro Animator; then Blue made sense.
I have always been intriqued with Pro Animator, but decided to wait on Blue since Boris had indicated some time back that a Mac version was in development.
Your news indicates the possibility (the certainty?)that a Mac version will not happen; indeed Blue may not be with us much longer in any form.
I am a huge RED fan, so it is good news that some of Blue’s functionality may get transfered to RED. That’s an exciting development along with Boris’ news that more comprehensive RED training material is in the works.
So until then, I guess I need to give Pro Animator another look. With that in mind, it would be great if RED could read and write Pro Animator native files so that Pro Animator users could take avantage of RED’s “advanced compositing” capabilities.

Just want to confirm; shine works with Boris RED 5?

Thanks, Peter, for the reply, but I am more concerned about dwindling 3rd party support for RED (and yes, I know that Eye Scream has recently introduced RED-compatible products).
No matter how extensive RED’s built-in feature set, it’s always nice to know that a 3rd party thinks enough of the product to develop for it. So it’s a little sad when another vendor drops official support for RED.
Sometime ago I had specifically asked that RED support Tiffen’s Dfx plug ins. Boris himself responded saying that he would look into it. I never heard anything further and don’t know if RED 5 supports Dfx 3. Sure I could download the Dfx trial and see, but this is one area that I wish RED was more After Effects-like; knowing for sure, either from BorisFX or from 3rd party vendors if certain After Effects compatible plug-in work with RED without the customer doing the work to find out. Some treasure hunts are fun. This one is not.
And while I am on 3rd party support, let me go a little off topic: For at least four years the Media 100 user guide has mentioned Pixelan plugs-in as being compatible with M100. Pixelan has not developed for the Mac platform or Media 100 for many, many years…
As far as I know there is no third party support directly for Media 100. That’s one reason why 3rd party support for Boris RED is so important; it’s the only way to get any kind of third party support for Media 100.Yes, Boris RED’s capabilities are extensive, but to varying degrees so are those of After Effects and Motion, and believe me, no one is complaining that there are too many 3rd party plug-ins for those programs.
Thanks for listening.

And speaking of Blue…is it still in development and, if so, can we expect a Mac OSX version this year?
-
No, I haven’t heard. Must be a secret 🙂

Any word on when the new BCC 8 filters will become available in Boris RED?
-
Is there a way to download just the uninstaller for Media 100 Producer v13? It seems that all that is available from the M100 download page is to download the entire program.
Thanks. -
Thanks Ben! I am trying to track down more Texas M100 users. I’ll have more time to work on this project next week. I’ll let you know what I come up with. The first one I found is a church using an unspecified earlier M100 version, but when the church upgrades to HD later this year, the media department will make the switch to Adobe Premiere and apparently leave M100 behind.

Awwww…everybody, just download the latest version of Media 100 Suite 2.x and be happy 🙂
