Thank you, Matthew. Deleting the Preferences files did the trick it seems.

Thanks. I attempted to do that yesterday but I did not go into the Users>Current User file. I went through another folder to Preferences and did not see any com.Media100 files. Thanks for giving me the correct pathway. I’ll let you know if it works.

Kent, it would be interesting for you to also post your original message in the FCP forum.
I think that you would get a more balanced perspective.

Thanks for the tip and it works as advertised with still mattes. But I have a nice collection of animated black and white mattes and Wipe Designerdoes not work with those files.
I am still trying to figure out how to use the animated mattes in RED, but so far no luck.
I may have to inquire on the Boris forum.
Thanks gain for your help.

I should also note that these mattes are sometimes called “overlays”.

Thanks. I will give this a try. The intended result is to have a have talking head keyed in one part of the matte with an animated background in the other part of the matte, so that the animated background and the talking head (or any video source) appear in the “scene” together but with a cool blending effect that takes avantage of the shape and/or animation aspects of the matte.
See the examples of Animattes at https://www.freedomfx.com to get an idea of what I want to achieve. Watch the demo. Also these kinds of mattes are available in Digital Juice’s Editor’s Toolkits and similar products from other companies. Like I mentioned previously, this kind of effect is very easy to achieve in Avid, FCP and others. I keep thinking that I am missing something in trying to accomplish the same thing in M100 without having to go through RED.

Thanks for the reply. If true, that is disappointing news in an app that bills itself as professional grade.
I neglected to say that I tried it in RED as well, which I thought would be a slam-dunk, but I was only able to key one video track and not the second. Obviously, there is something that I am overlooking. What is the technique?

I’ll give this a try. Thanks.

Must have Light Sweep equivalent…I don’t know what kind of editing you are doing so I don’t know if these recommendations will fit your flow but look at Vision Lab Studio by fxHome and possibly Compositor Toolkit 2 from Digital Juice. They probably don’t have a clone of the Lightsweep effect but you might be able to come up with something similar. CT2 is not an effects program in the same sense as Boris FX, but it might have elements that will work for you.
Also look at light flare plug-ins. Optical Flares from Video Co-Pilot and Knoll Light Flares from Red Giant Software are examples of solutions that might work in certain circumstances. They typically work with After Effects (which is more than $600 if you don’t already have it).
Some of the Digieffects plug-ins that work with Boris RED *might* work with BorisFX, so maybe they are another possibility.
Maybe you can find older versions of current software that people are selling and will transfer regisitration to you like After Effects and combustion.
Finally, you might even try the Amiga program ImageFX from Nova Design. All you would need to run it if would be an Amiga emulator like Amiga Forever so that it would run on a PC or with Boot Camp, etc. on a Mac.
