I am working on a project for a local theatre highlighting this years acts. It’s basically a bunch of thirty second clips with some cool titles and moves in AE.They will be projecting it on a wide screen in NTSC from a DVD player. I know they will want to change the order and what not so I thought I would composite each graphic and clip in AE then string everything together in Media 100 so I can tweak audio and change the order without re rendering everything in AE.

Unfortunately most of the source material is either You Tube or ripped from the artists DVD.
So far my planned work flow is this:

Convert the You Tube FLV to QuickTime in QuickTime Pro using Apple Pro Res.
Set up a comp for each section in AE with NTSC DV Wide screen.
The default pixel aspect ratio seems to be D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 1.21.
Tweak footage with Magic Bullet Instant HD
Render out of AE with Best Settings with Apple pro re, then import into Media 100.

    In media 100 I was going to configure to NTSC 601 16 x 9.
And Use SD with Apple Pro Res.

Does this sound like a good work flow?

Once it is done I need to create a DVD likely with I DVD or DVD Studio Pro if I can get my head around it fast enough. What would you export to from Media 100 to create a DVD?

Any input, caveats, or suggestions are most appreciated.

Lastly I am using Media 100 2.0.1 and AE CS5.5

    Thank You

Just curious. Why are you using After Effects and Instant HD in this project as opposed to Boris RED?

    Hi Marcus,

I have a lot more experience with AE than Boris Red, so I guess I’m much more comfortable working with it. I keep meaning to use Boris more though.
