This is a useful YT video, and explained well – but we have discovered that it doesn’t work well with audio. I start with multiple audio tracks, that are mixed down to stereo mixdown tracks for LP playback. That is stable for our features. But fixing small sections and dropping them in, does not work. So no answers so far.

December 23, 2023 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Avid Media Composer won't launch

    Update:

When I reinstalled MC now, I followed the previous advice from an Avid Tech when I had licensing issues. Basically, I removed the AvidTitler+ plug in (after opening up Package contents). Now MC opens up, and I go to the Main project page and can open up a Project without a problem.

Why should I have to do this? I can’t believe other editors have this problem. What might it point to a problem on my Mac?

    Thoughts?

June 27, 2017 at 10:15 pm in reply to: Slowing audio or speeding it up

    Hi,

So I’ve been testing audio and trying to adjust the duration of the clip but also maintaining the pitch.

Just changing the speed/duration and then adding the Pitch effect does not work well.

However, the most effective way was to: (1) change the duration of the clip and (2) then Nest it. (3) A pitch effect was then added to return the clip back to its normal sound.

It’s not perfect, and certainly not as good as the Avid speed change effect for audio, but it’s something for now.

I don’t know how nested sequences transfer to ProTools sessions, but I expect each nested sequence would have to be exported as a .wav file and then reimported back into the cut for that effect to make it in the AAF transfer.

May 11, 2017 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Keyboard shortcuts back up

After searching for a while, my team discovered that (on a PC Windows system) Keyboard short cuts can be found in:

    C:/Users/[User name]/MyDocuments/Adobe/Premiere Pro/11.0/Profile-[User]/Win

Is it easier to find in a MAC OS system?

Searching for media or files seems to work with a keyword in the standard search window.

In fact, if I select “All metadata” and place my keyword in, then the search function as a ‘bin’ and can be found further down the Project.

April 24, 2017 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Editing with Nested sequences

I will try this method. It makes sense.

    **** ALSO

    – I need to see the TCs of the clips within the Nested sequence I am editing.

If I use the Overlays function when I am editing my master sequence, I can only see the Nested Sequences TC, and not the Clip TC.

Is this a feature request or is there a way to use Overlays that show the Clip name or Clip TC?

I suspect they don’t offer it since a nested sequence might contain several video tracks and audio tracks….

    Thx

March 15, 2017 at 10:04 pm in reply to: CC 2017 Mac Intel Tower Reviews

I tried using a new Kona Card which was meant to display 4K. Now our project is unique in that we want to play 60fps, and also work with 4K. The result was a choppy playback all the time.

We gave up using PP CC with the AJA card and opted to view our VR material via more graphics cards inside our PC. Nvidia graphics cards.

Plus we maxed out the RAM and used SSDs. Playback is still not as fluid as an AVID – but there again this is 4K.

February 22, 2017 at 7:03 am in reply to: Back to basics: Working with Toggle Sync lock

Thanks all for the locking track advice. That seems reasonable.

However, it doesn’t explain how, in Adobe documentation, it guides me to select the actual track to edit (via deselecting Sync lock) without affecting any other tracks. Is this a bug or am I missing something in the explanation?

This comes from an adobe lesson, and seems straightforward.

February 14, 2017 at 6:37 pm in reply to: Multiple clips – panning audio

I did a search and found my solution:

    – Select an audio clip, and pan it, using the clip mixer.

    – Then copy that clip.

    – Select the other clips that need to be panned.

    – Use Paste Attributes (selecting only ‘pan’ in the dialog box)

    – All of the audio clips will be panned as per the original panned clip.

December 9, 2016 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Migrating from Avid Media Composer to Premiere Pro

    Thanks for the reply,

My team is investigating another way with AAFs since having clip names that consist of previous Avid file naming conventions aren’t useful.

I must admit I am kinda surprised that not much is talked about this situation. Ideally an Editor starts on one platform and sticks with it, but no one talks about wholesale migration of a project to another NLE.

    Thanks
