Back to basics: Working with Toggle Sync lock
Hi,
Toggle Sync Lock issue:
I have two tracks of Video and several tracks of unlinked audio in my sequence. (I would post an image but not permitted to do so)
Issue: I would like to edit out several pauses in my audio on track A1. I could ‘LIFT’ the selected pauses out and then close up those empty spaces – but instead I just want to extract them. I like how I have a keystroke to Ripple Extract, but in this case, I would like to use Ripple Extract on just that A1 track and NOT the other tracks (including the video)
My question is: how do I selectively edit tracks in the timeline?
When I deselect A1’s ‘Toggle Sync Lock’, Extract still edits across ALL of the tracks.
Do I have to deselect TOGGLE SYNC LOCK on ALL of my tracks, to then select the track I need to work with?
I might add that Insert Edit acts in the same way.
Thoughts from an knowledgable PP editor would be much appreciated.

You could lock the tracks you don’t want to be affected.

1) How about Shift clicking video and audio locks for all trax
2) single click to unlock A1
3) mark I/O to define your range
4) extract?

Thanks all for the locking track advice. That seems reasonable.
However, it doesn’t explain how, in Adobe documentation, it guides me to select the actual track to edit (via deselecting Sync lock) without affecting any other tracks. Is this a bug or am I missing something in the explanation?
This comes from an adobe lesson, and seems straightforward.

i tried sync lock and it worked fine.
4 video tracks and 1 audio track.
shift-click sync lock in both video and audio tracks
click sync lock for the track you want to extract audio or video.
mark your in and out.
hit extract.
