For this “client” give it to them, if in the future you have an issue with this, make sure it’s in YOUR contract for services, before, taking the assignment. That way it’s upfront, no one feels “cheated” and you can then charge for it later if they want it.

Strange, my “normal” setting is 1/48, I set it when I bought the camera and have not changed it since. The camera has kept that setting all along. Perhaps there is a “temporary” vs “permanent” way to set the shutter? Never had that problem. I would suggest going into the camera set up and adjust the shutter speed there. I’ll be downloading the new firmware soon, do be sure to copy all your settings so you can reload them from a card.

Double rendering = loss of quality? That’s analogue thinking! Double render all you want. This was a huge concern when working with analogue tape, now it’s a non-issue for most applications.

1/24 for “low light” not great for objects in motion or panning/tilt. 1/48 standard for 24p video; 1/60 standard for 30p/60i video. All other shutter speeds/shutter angles (film speak) will affect image in ways you have to test for to see if it’s ok for your needs.
Histogram? Use the waveform monitor!
Flicker- test as needed
Black balance: Every day, or when there are large temperature changes the camera is subject to.

I have an H1, and recently bought 2 Tascam DR-05’s and 3 “microphone madness” lavs (5v phantom powered) by the Tascam recorder. No more lav with a battery module!

My vote is for Vimeo as well, though I do upload content on youtube and then ignore it. No comments, nothing, it’s there to take advantage of Google searches and nothing else. Vimeo is very useful for my work and my clients, I am able to control the “outros” or have nothing, super useful so people do not wander away looking at other content.

Probably a late reply, but…
RF sent to camera is only a “scratch track” as far as I’m concerned. Use a multi track recorder to isolate as many tracks as you can from the mixer so you have a decent chance of good audio later during post. You don’t want the “house” mix, you want isolated multi tracks. Today with very inexpensive multi track recorders and computer interface boxes, there is “almost” never an issue with recording multiple tracks in the field. The day’s of having “only” a 2 track Nagra are long gone.
I shoot industrial and documentary films and use a Tascam Dr-680; 6 input channels and 2 internal mix down channels. My camera has two channels, I have a small 2 track recorder with XLR’s, and three 2 track pocket sized recorders with lavs for on talent use. I also have 2 radio mics, which I “almost” never use, they are just for the occasional scene where I cannot wire talent or plant a mic on set. Preferably both, I regularly run 3~5 tracks with two different recorders on every job. I never want to be dependent upon one mic, you never know when it will fail.
If you want “good” audio, record as many isolated tracks as you can on location, and then mix in post.

Put a “respond date” on your quotes, if they delay, the quote becomes void. Get a deposit, that usually separates the serious from the flakey.

Documentary logging:
I have been looking at the Media Manager as well, to date I have only been using bins, With VP12 you can “tag” clips, but I find the comments area in the list view more useful.
When syncing footage on the timeline, I had used markers to log, as they can be printed out with timecode! But when I use markers in the trimmer, I cannot figure out how to print them, is this possible? I have very long clips, easily 30 minutes and there is not enough room in the comments area to log footage, thus I am still using markers.
Rating: I am not able to get the “rating” feature working, supposedly a drop down box should open, it does not, anyone using this feature in the media bins, list mode?
Any ideas?
