  • Momentary Key command to disable ripple?

Posted by Brad Leigh on October 3, 2013 at 10:28 pm

Does anyone know if it’s possible to program a momentary keyboard command to disable ripple. Same way you can momentarily disable snap?
It would be so nice to leave ripple on, but when I didn’t want it hold tab or a key that I could program in the shuttle pro to disable. It would be so nice to know it’s on unless I was holding the key. Would love it.
I always forget where I left it, and either have to look away from the time line before every edit or do a lot of control Z 🙂
    Thanks
    Brad

I wish that Ripple would always turn itself off after it’s use. I only turn it on when I need ripple, which is pretty rare, then I turn it off.

I rarely use it as well. I’m finishing a project that’s a bit long,so I’ve been tighting a bunch of edits. I really mis-stated my problem. I would like ripple off unless I press a momentary key.
glad I’m not the only one.

Press once, then Ripple is on. Then it’s off.
Vegas already knows when something has changed – make any change, no matter how tiny or trivial, and the * next to the save icon comes on. Vegas could just as easily turn ripple off.

Use Ctrl+F after the edit. In other words, work with Ripple Off (as you should) and then when you make an edit and say, “darn I wish I had ripple on”, press Ctrl+F and Vegas will ripple the last edit “after the fact”.

Thanks for the reminder, John. I never tried that shortcut but I will on my next project.

That’s a great idea. The Shuttle Pro is great for this kind short-cut.
