  • Hey Sara,

    How annoying, and frustrating!

There is not enough information for anyone here to investigate the individual files.

But if you look at your second screen-shot, of the WAV files, then it is either a miracle, or there is something else happening.

As if the audio and the video were running on the same frame-rate with camera and audio recorder synced together, it should be near impossible for soo many clips next to one another to end up with “00” in duration. And you have 5 clips that starts with “00” and ends on “24”, and the 6th clip does its own thing.

It could be a setting in how the audio recorder recorded clips, frame-rate or other wise. But nonetheless is confusing the editing software. In short someone might have “flicked” a switch on day 20.

If the time-code for video and audio is in sync when syncing using audio as a guide, then I would suggest that you use that – just to get started. You could take all the clips and treat them as a multi-cam sync from the bin, and see if that is faster.

As it is a 20 day shoot, I would suggest that you might also reach out to who-ever will be doing final audio foley(?), ADR and Mix, to see if they have comments. As it is unlikely to be a new problem that you have discovered by chance.

As always, there are much smarter people around here than me, who will have a better idea of what is going on.
Do let us know when you find the cause and the solution, as we can all learn from that.

    Hey Michael,

30 mins of video on a DVD should not take up anymore than maximum 1 GB.
I’ll encourage you to look at codec settings again.
One stumbling part is if your project is 2K or 4K, where as standard DVD is only built for NTSC or PAL.

Depending on your various family memebers connectivity, you should consider putting the video in a Cloud folder, like OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox or similar. with the HTML link, they can watch it on-line on their phone, tablet or via smart TV.
Don’t discount a private link via YouTube either (YouTube is about to outperform even Netflix on being the top streamer on your smart tv.

Hope this help you get a little bit further.

    Hey Michael,

No worries, DVD is old technology, but works very well when it works.

Your export to main concept AVC/AAC (*.mp4; *.AVC) might work if playing back through a computer. In which case a memory stick might serve you better than a DVD.

If playing back from a standard DVD player (the old fashioned way) it is best to use MPeg-2. You will also need to check that your frame-rate and region matches. And, the DVD player may need a menu with a play-button on the screen – it is many years since I’ve done one of those.

However, I do have a few of WinXDVD products to rip my old library of DVD’s so I can watch them on my computer (All legal and above board as I have purchased the DVD and will not share it).
WinX have a page that might be helpful for you:
    https://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-play/dvd-player-formats-supported.htm

Hope this helps you a little bit further to your goal.

  • Hey Santanu,

Yes, clients are starting to use A.I., not least as they are being bombarded by big corporates about the advantages of using it. Google is the latest, in a long line of companies, to try and “hike” subscription, whilst using your data to train their A.I. with.

Adobe, has filed in the UK Parliamentary library that they are closing down core Creative Cloud software package(s), to move investment to A.I. tools like Adobe Express.

Like any other hyped market, it is likely to crash and normalise – think the implosion of IT related companies in the late 1990’s. Before then there is numerous examples of how the valuation of a product or a company did not match the reality.

Once your clients realise that you got to have creativity and communications skills to even use A.I., and be able to evaluate GOOD v BAD story telling. They will be using your business for the good stuff.

This is when you should point out to you client(s) that loads of regular work comes with a “retainer” discount. And, if they cut down on work, then you naturally become more expensive, as they only use you on the GOOD stuff, which will sell their products and make them look great – as opposed to the “3-legged employee doing a robotic like presentation”.

I’ve just taken a peak at your website – it looks really profsesional.

Although I have no knowledge of how your market operates “locally” your side of the world, and I myself is currently re-doing the WORST of all websites in the galaxy, I am happy to make suggestions:
Maybe tweak your text intro as to cover what clients in the world of A.I. is getting from you, and what problems you solve for them?
And then, later tell them about all the great stuff that you have done previously.

With that in mind, go Network + reach out to executives to discuss idea generation and the future of Media Production, and why you are a strong partner working alongside their in-house department.

Most importantly: You are not alone in feeling the pinch. But there will always be a space for you, as long as you adapt and meet the needs of the customer.

  • Hey Marco,

This is a cheat – but at least get you going.
Keep in mind that although you would want to it from scratch, there are plenty of places to take inspiration from + get to have a peak at how they do it:

Also, take a look at BorisFX Particle Illusion. Not sure how the licence works, but they did have a free version. And if you chek out their page, you’ll have an abundance in pre-made particle animations + tutorials:

Don’t forget to come back and show us your final version!

    Good Luck.

    Hey Michael,

Your DVD should have a minimum of 4.7 GB of space. If you are only seeing 2.5 GB, maybe something else has been burned on to it?

In which case try to burn on to a blank DVD.

Next to check is how long is your video?

Do you need to split it in two?

Finally, have a look at the codec and bit-rate that you are using.

Doing a quick search, if you have DVD Architect, this tutorial might help:

April 25, 2024 at 11:05 pm in reply to: Can dancers’ missing feet be re-created?

    Hey Peter,

I am sure that it would be more cost effective to reshoot the event, sorry. Not what you want to hear, I understand. However, even if you could get the dancers on their own, could maybe save the day.
In any case, several questions comes to mind:

    1) Is this a multi-cam shoot? (Do you have other shots where the feet appears?)

    2) Depending on answer to question 1. Do you actually know what the missing feet looks like?

    3) If yes to 1 & 2 above, maybe try and create at least 1-frame of “clean” plate and work your way from there. You may find that at 720p resolution, if that is what it was shot at, that the “camera” will be less forgiving than at 4K.

But unless you have extremely deep pockets, it is highly unlikely that it is an easy job. Though if the clip is “only” 7 seconds long, everything is possible.

One part to try is to cut out the speakers and everything below the stage edge. Pop some Chromakey Green or similar to fill, and then ask Adobe regenrate it. You could also ask any of the mainstream A.I. tools coming in to play. But it is highly likely that you get comedy rather than professional dancers.

April 25, 2024 at 9:27 pm in reply to: MC add-on when Purchasing MC Ultimate

    Hey Trevor,

If you have chosen Ultimate, you initially get three different choices of payment:
    1) Media Composer | Ultimate – Annual Subscription

    2) Media Composer | Ultimate – Annual Subscription (Paid Monthly)

    3) Media Composer | Ultimate – Monthly Subscription

If you are looking to use it for a year, option 1 is the most cost-effective.

The Optional Add-ons I understand as additional AVID MC seat.
You can also add on Pro-Tools and Sibelius.

However, if it is just 1 X AVID MC Ultimate that you want, ignore the rest.

I am sure that you can add eithe or all of those later, although the cost might change.

    Hope that this helps?
