The freeware MPEGStreamclip does a wonderful format conversion.
It works not only with MPEG clips but also with QuickTime movies.
Open the QuickTime movies in MPEGStreamclip, choose ‘QuickTime
Export’ from the ‘File’ menu and make your settings. There are
various options for interlaced scaling, deinterlacing and chroma
reinterlacing … -

Kona or BMD cards are just for monitoring and play out to tape.
Only the AJ-HD1400 could record a 720p50 HD-SDI signal but
this VTR is not yet available … for pure P2 import and editing
you won’t need one … -
For Sony Proxies: Create a OfflineRT timeline. Activate unlimited realtime, edit.
Problems: It’s not native, Audio doesn’t work yet.
For Flip4Mac Proxies: Create a MPEG-4 timeline in 352 x 288, square pixels.
You can edit now the F4Mac proxies natively.Problems: Audio doesn’t work yet.
