Hi, just thought I’d chime in.
We do mostly multi cam music concerts and magazine type shows and have been editing with the Media100 almost since inception, version 1.2 It was our first non-linear system.
Cutting the magazine and documentaries are very easy on the system, the multi-cam stuff not so, but we have stayed with it using work-a-rounds for multi-cam mainly because it always work! Have tried other platforms/software but I guess we are too lazy to change. Our first edit on the HD system was a music video shot on HD and delivered on HD and went without any hiccups. Its been fairly smooth since except for recent issues with the Sony hdv m10u which seems to be a Sony problem. Other models work.
Knowing all the problems of computers and software, I have been very happy with the way our three M100 systems work, I guess mainly because we are used to the work flow on the software.

I guess I have to stay away from that deck! We do have a 25MU but at another location so will have to work it out. For the time being we are digitizing on our 8.2i system to transfer to the HD suite for editing. Guess I will have to find a solution for on-lining.
Thanks

Hi Micheal,
Yes, the footage is being down converted by the deck to dv. The strange thing though is why should the digitizing process stop and something change without touching the system? It was about two thirds the way through the tape when this happened so the settings must have been right to begin with…

… another way is simply select the clip(s) and go redigitize selected. Then check the box marked “force redigitize” audio to the right of the digitize window. This will only redige the audio you have selected if your video kb per frame settings remain as per the original file. This from memory as I am not in front of the computer.
Cheers,

When we do use the Sony HDv camera we record in the HDv mode thinking that this camera will give it’s best performance in this setting. We then use the decks downconvert capabilities to feed Media100 the video of choice, 16 x 9 or 4 x 3. Two of our systems are Hidef. It also keeps our footage current with lots of options for the future, Hi-Def, 16×9, etc.

Hi David,
We have two of the Sony HDV decks with this feature. We will use whatever technology that makes our lives easiest and gives the best performance/quality for our output.
Thanks,

Yes, the modem port was modified and this is where the rs422 cable is connected.

Re Digital Juice, try rendering them out using the animation codec. They have issues with the Media100 codec.
