Hi Bill,
Please check that your sync signal matches the format of the video with which you are working. If that still doesn’t help, try removing the external sync signal and see if that changes the problem. Please let me know what you find.

Hi,
The DeckLink HD card has an SDI input and two SDI outputs. If you connect it directly to an analog monitor, you will see “snow” or “static”. Component analog monitors have three inputs and sometimes new DeckLink users guess that the three BNC connectors on the DeckLink HD are for connection to a component analog monitor but this is not the case. Could that be the answer to your problem?
Please let me know what kind of deck and/or camera you wish to use with the DeckLink card and also what kind of monitor you have. I should then be able to determine if you are encountering a bug or if you need different hardware.

Hi Mark,
We’ve seen a number of instances where a disk speed issue has caused “timecode break” warnings. Even if your disks are usually fast enough, you might observe this error if your disks are beyond a critical capacity theshold (eg 80% full), or have become highly fragmented from many batch captures or if antivirus software is slowing down your Mac. It is worth considering these factors even if a disk benchmark seems to indicate adequate performance.

Hi Amr,
Pretty much any QuickTime-based video application on Mac, which supports QuickTime video output components, can be used with DeckLink cards. Applications include: Final Cut Pro, SoundTrack Pro, Motion, Shake, After Effects, Combustion, Blackmagic Deck Control, Photoshop and Live Channel Pro. I’ve probably forgotten some but those are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

Hi,
Thanks for running these tests. In reviewing your answers, I found that there was one answer which I still need and which I could not find in this thread.
Please quit out of FCP and launch Blackmagic Deck Control. Can it capture without problems? Does it show any delay when you set it to capture?

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for this information and that sounds encouraging. What version of drivers are you using for both cards?

November 25, 2005 at 1:04 am in reply to: Deck Control keeps reinstalling it’s software/driverHi Lars,
My understanding of the DeckLink Windows drivers was that in the past, it was critically important that old drivers be uninstalled and the computer be restarted when prompted. Then the new drivers could be installed. Cases where newer drivers would not install properly have been traced back to some previous version not being uninstalled fully as the prompt to restart the PC had been ignored and the new drivers immediately installed.
I believe that the newer v5 drivers are not so affected by the lack of a restart but it is still good practise to restart when uninstalling.
In other words, when you do get around to updating from the old v4.4b8 drivers, I do not envisage any problems as long as you uninstall, reboot, and then install the new drivers.
Please let me know if you encounter any further problems.

Hi Sheldon,
Have you always had this problem using the DeckLink cards or is this a new problem. If the problem used not occur, can you tell me what software versions of FCP, DeckLink, QT and Mac OS X you were probably running at that time? We can then run tests with the older and new software and this should help us to pinpoint the problem.
