Hi,
Are you connecting to the JVC monitor via SDI or component analog? Which model of JVC monitor are you using? I think some JVC monitors take RGB analog input whereas the DeckLink HD Pro single-link card outputs YUV. If you are connecting via component analog, please ensure the monitor is set to accept YUV component analog video.

That’s why we have an open architecture so that developers can plug in to our drivers via DirectShow and then those applications will automatically take advantage of any new driver update. Vegas doesn’t do that which is why Vegas 6.0 requires the DeckLink 4.8.1 drivers and Vegas 7.0 requires DeckLink 5.6 drivers. Hopefully that model might change in the future so that Vegas can take advantage of the latest features, bugfixes and product support which are added to our drivers.

Thanks for posting your observations and DV definitely has its uses but you’re right that uncompressed and Motion JPEG look much better. That’s pretty funny that you find Motion JPEG looks better than the uncompressed video. I can just see the advertizing now, “New Motion JPEG codec is better than Uncompressed …..” 😉
I see you’ve posted details of the bright strip further down in the forum so I’ll check that out soon. Thanks for all your information!

Yes, DeckLink 5.7 x64 drivers will support more than 3 GB of RAM.
Vegas 7.0a has been specifically written around the DeckLink 5.6 drivers and will only work with that version. The Vegas notes mention they have tested SDI capture and playback and analog monitoring but not analog capture. Vegas 7.0 will not work with the DeckLink 5.7 drivers unless Vegas is updated.

It probably will be but I doubt it will be possible in the initial driver release. It would be nice to do so we’ll look at that possibility once Intensity is shipping. I can’t guarantee it but I can’t see any reason why we couldn’t do it.

The following extract is taken from a support note named Which compressed codecs can I use with DeckLink cards?
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 also provides hardware support for capture and playback of DV50 and DV100 via Firewire. However Microsoft doesn’t supply the DV50 and DV100 codecs and they have to be purchased from a third party or bundled with a video application. This makes sharing DV50 and DV100 files more difficult as other Windows users may not have access to these codecs.
Premiere Pro supports DV50 capture and playback via Firewire but that won’t let you bring your QuickTime DV50 movies over to the PC and use them without transcoding to another codec.
What sofware were you hoping to use on the PC? It may be that someone reading this forum would know of a DV50 codec that can be purchased to work with that software.
