Yes, you can already achieve this with the existing Multibridge and will also be able to do it with the new Multibridges. Please see the support note How to achieve maximum quality with HDV cameras. The Multibridge will take the component HD output of the HDV camera and digitize it in to HD-SDI which you can capture as 10-bit uncompressed if you like. The support note documents when this will achieve greater quality than Firewire and when it will not so please review the note and let me know if you have any further questions.

Given you want to input and output in SD and HD, and work with SDI, component and composite, I would recommend any of the DeckLink HD series cards partnered with a Multibridge. The US$1995 Multibridge has all the i/o you will need for component HD, component SD, composite SD, SD-SDI and HD-SDI.
The DeckLink HD series card will simply act as the conduit between your computer and the Multibridge. Multibridge will do the work of converting between analog and digital and digital to analog.
You can really use any DeckLink HD series card including the entry model $595 DeckLink HD. It has SDI in and out and a spare SDI monitoring port. If you need genlock or Trisync, then the $995 DeckLink HD Plus includes that in addition to SDI in and out. The $1495 DeckLink HD Pro 4:2:2 adds component and composite analog monitoring and finally the $1995 DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 adds dual-link RGB 4:4:4 support as well as split hardware down conversion.
So there are a range of cards and you can just buy the one that suits your purposes without buying features you don’t need. All of them partner with the Multibridge for 4:2:2 video and the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 can also work with the Multibridge in 4:4:4.
Our next generation of Multibridge products is due within a few weeks and will not require a DeckLink card as it will just plug straight in to the PCI Express slot in your computer. This is nice as it keeps the cost down and allows us to do even more with the Multibridge as you don’t need to use any SDI connections to connect to a DeckLink card in your computer.

DeckLink cards now support ASIO. This means in Premiere Pro that the card is seen as an audio device. When you first start your Premiere Pro project, make sure you select the audio device you wish to use

Currently there are no 64-bit video applications which could take advantage of the 64-bit version of Windows XP and so there seems to be no demand for a 64-bit version of the DeckLink drivers. I’m sure we’ll develop a 64-bit version at some stage but, given they would provide you with no benefit at this time, our engineers can make better use of their time developing features that will help right now. I don’t know how the DeckLink drivers would go on a Windows XP 64-bit OS as we haven’t performed exhaustive testing for the reason above. Accordingly we will continue to recommend the Windows XP Pro with SP2 for the moment but this could change if video applications are updated to take advantage of WinXP64.

Hi Sami,
Did you purchase your Kona SD before G5’s first started shipping? If so, you will need a firmware update for compatibility with G5’s and AJA support can help you with that. It will require sending your card back to them for an update but it should work fine and others in this forum have reported no problems running the Kona SD with the G5/2.7 DP as long as they have had the firmware update.

It does sound more like a deck issue. However if you could post a frame grab showing an example of the problem, we might be able to get a better idea of the cause of the problem.

Hi,
Chances are that you aren’t using Blackmagic codecs at all. Please refer to the Kona SD support note for latest information regarding drivers for use with Panther and Tiger. Either way, you will be using the Apple codecs in standard definition as we’ve adopted them in standard definition ever since releasing our v4.x drivers.
If you want to be sure you have the latest drivers and codecs, just use the uninstaller in the v4.8 or 5.0 drivers and then run the v4.8 installer for Panther or the v5.0 installer for Tiger.
If you want to double-check the version, go to your startup hard disk, and open the folder System/Library/Extensions/ and look for the file called Blackmagic_Driver or something similar. You can do a Get Info on it to find the version installed.
