This is VERY helpful… there are just a few things that I don’t quite understand…

There is a Keyboard command you might have to map called: Match Frame (i set it to H) this is what I’m not sure of… can you elaborate on that and how do I map it?

    thanks so much.

Thanks, that wasn’t quite what I was looking for – I’ll try and explain it a bit better. I unlinked a few clips and deleted the video portion and kept only the audio (probably not a wise move in retrospect) now I would like to get the video part back. These clips are all from one larger mpeg file and I’m wondering if there is a way that I can automatically find the exact video clip in the original mpeg file and match it with the audio. Maybe I’m out of luck and will have to redo the clip. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

    thanks!

Thanks, it’s a relief to know that I’m on the right track… I’ll try the white transitions as well.. by the way, do you ever use a combination of transitions?

thanks, I’ll give it a go and be prepared for waiting 🙂

I guess the word I was probably looking for was ‘grainy’

April 7, 2009 at 4:49 pm in reply to: creating night time look

Thank you for all the valuable information. I’ll definitely keep this in mind for any future shoots.

In this case, the clips are pretty short – it’s for a promo for firefighters and it’s matched up to the lyrics of a song. I tried shooting firetrucks at night but again, having limited experience, the shots came out extremely noisy and grainy and I don’t think useable. However the shots in the day are nice and clear and clean. There is a flashing light on the top of the truck that I’d like to be nice and clear but the setting should be dusk or night time. I think I will play around with the settings that I got from the tutorial and see how it looks. Because the clips are very short it may work… Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Hi:

thanks so much for your response. The footage is not actually so much out of focus as it is just noisy I guess. the sharpness seems to be gone, but it’s in focus alright.

These are interviews which when shot, I had very little experience with my camera, but did get some professional help and setup in a proper studio with proper lighting. One of the interviews came out very nice and clear and clean and the others are what I’m referring to as ‘fuzzy’ or noisy. I can really see the difference. When I had the studio have a look they told me that the lighting was not setup properly on the ones that were noisy. I know that re-shooting would be the best option but this is not going to be possible in this case.

After a bit more information, I wonder if you have any further comments or suggestions.

    thanks so much,

Thank you! So it doesn’t matter if I have the two formats? MPEG and m2t? I don’t have to worry about that? If that’s the case, that’s a relief 🙂

March 11, 2009 at 10:07 pm in reply to: format for exporting from premiere to AE

Do you think this would work:

Exporting separate sequences that need tweaking (each about 3 minutes long) as uncompressed microsoft avi files – then tweaking and exporting again and doing the final in Premiere? I hope I’m on the right track. There is an option to export as mpeg2 in premiere.

If I’m on the right track, what format would I save them in from AE for export back to premiere…

Thanks for all of the advice, it’s much appreciated.

    Hi:

truthfully, I’m not sure what I should be doing. All I know is that I have a premiere project as an hdv, I want to bring up the footage in AE and put some effects, etc. on it and then export it as ntsc dv widescreen. If you don’t think this is the right approach, then I’m willing to try something else :.)

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
