  • replacing clips from original footage

I would like to replace some clips with the original footage but I want it to bring in the exact clip from the original source… is there a way to do that without having to search and find the correct piece.

    Thanks!

[Lillian Fidler] “without having to search and find the correct piece”

I’m not sure what you mean by that, but have a look at FAQ:How do I replace one clip with another? to see what can be done in PPro.

Thanks, that wasn’t quite what I was looking for – I’ll try and explain it a bit better. I unlinked a few clips and deleted the video portion and kept only the audio (probably not a wise move in retrospect) now I would like to get the video part back. These clips are all from one larger mpeg file and I’m wondering if there is a way that I can automatically find the exact video clip in the original mpeg file and match it with the audio. Maybe I’m out of luck and will have to redo the clip. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

    thanks!

    • Double-click the audio on the timeline and it will open in the Source Monitor.
    • Take note of the In and Out Points.
    • Double-click on the original clip in the Project Panel and it will open in the Source Monitor.
    • Set the In and Out Points according to your notes.
    • Take the video and overlay it on the desired track in the timeline.

    Hi E.

    Very usefull thread.

Do I get this correct: i.e If I were to remove a clip from a small video footage and edit some effects in adobe after effects, and then add this new edited clip back to the video footage on premier pro, can I then re-add the original sound/audio to my video track???

I hope it made some sence.. Because Everytime I take a clip to edit it in after effect, I loose the whole sound.

Last question is, can premier pro manage multiple sound effect?? I mean, if I wanted the original sound recorded from the cam + sound FX+ background music, is this possible?? Truly a powerfull tool.

    Regards Hamid

It sounds like you don’t understand how to use dynamic link.

    Eddie.

If forgot to mention, that while in After E applying my lightsaber effect, when I was done with the last frame, I just saved the file without rendering the file. I got the impression from the tut that after I imported the file into PPro via dynamic link, I could render it in PPro??? Is this correct..

    Hey Eddie.

So I watch the dynamic link tut like a million times, and I still have got no where..

    I try make this short:

I hooked up my dv cam to my laptop and captured a small(5 sec) clip into PPro. I saved the file, imported it to After E. Did my editing( Andrew Kramers Lightsaber effect) and saved it. Opend PPro and via dynamic link I got to the pop up menu and picked my After E file.

Here is my problem. When imported to PPro, my footage is not there?? I mean the screen is not blank, is shows a linear colorfull still pic?? What could it be, please advice.

I’m afraid dynamic link is out of my area of expertise (I don’t own the full suite).

Perhaps one of the forum gurus will chime in soon.

    Cheers
