format for exporting from premiere to AE
Posted by Lillian Fidler on March 11, 2009 at 1:02 pmmy project is setup in premiere as 1080i hdv… I’m wondering what I should export the project as to bring it into AE or is it better to open the project through AE instead of exporting first? The final result should be ntsc dv.
Thank you.

Yes, I would like it widescreen dv for the final output.
I’ve done most of my work in premiere pro… ie all of the sequences etc. and I would like to bring it into AE to add effects, titles and transitions.
What would you suggest would be the best way to export this and then import into AE?
My original project is setup as hdv and the footage was imported from my camera hard drive as m2t files and from my camera tape as mpeg files (this was the only format available).
Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. I’m pretty new at this and want to make sure that I’m going to get a good output in the end. I don’t know alot about codecs and proper formats, etc.

March 11, 2009 at 4:43 pmHave you tried the simple copy and paste via Dynamic Link… you are making this harder than it needs to be.

March 11, 2009 at 4:46 pmwell, that sounds easy enough…. I’ll give it a shot… should I look for dynamic link in premiere or just do a copy of a sequence then paste over into AE? Thanks so much.

March 11, 2009 at 4:59 pmHi:
truthfully, I’m not sure what I should be doing. All I know is that I have a premiere project as an hdv, I want to bring up the footage in AE and put some effects, etc. on it and then export it as ntsc dv widescreen. If you don’t think this is the right approach, then I’m willing to try something else :.)
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

March 11, 2009 at 10:07 pmDo you think this would work:
Exporting separate sequences that need tweaking (each about 3 minutes long) as uncompressed microsoft avi files – then tweaking and exporting again and doing the final in Premiere? I hope I’m on the right track. There is an option to export as mpeg2 in premiere.
If I’m on the right track, what format would I save them in from AE for export back to premiere…
Thanks for all of the advice, it’s much appreciated.
