What version of Vegas are you using. This was added to V5 (and is available in V6). I’m sure you can get this script to work in V4… but not sure where you would find one already setup to work with it.

I would agree… in most cases this is true… NR really makes a lot of difference (even with just 2 clients) if you have a lot of FX’s on your timeline that significantly slow down the render. If what you have is a “cuts-only” type of project then NR is not the way to go.

  • I would recommend you read the tutorial Great Titles With the DV Codec

Just beacuse you want to use text with thin lines… does not mean you can or should. You need to known and work within the limits of the medium.

It sounded like it did run on PC1 right – as otherwise how did you setup the network shares and the link to the other render host (on PC2). In any case… i don’t think that’s where your issue is (very easy to rule this out anyway). It sounds like the PC2 NR got the job and it failed for some reason. The detailed log may very well tell you what went wrong. Have you looked at that? (I can’t remember where they are…. they may be in Documents and Settings\Application Data\Sony etc etc)

I wish you could edit posts…

You should not have to setup the file mappings or to add the EDIT1 renderer onto the EDIT2 NR setup.

It might help if you can look at the more detailed log file for the NR service on EDIT2. That usually gives more detail about why it failed.

You should not have to setup the file mappings or to add the EDIT2 rendered onto the EDIT2 NR setup.

However… you might just check that you can indeed access the file mappings from EDIT2.. although I suspect that is something that is probably working.

A common issue is related to the DNS suffix for the computers that is setup in the “My Computers” properties. Your problem may or may not be solved but just in case follow the instructions here

  • From your post it is not quite clear (to me) whether you have found the special script that will allow you to export an image sequence from the timeline.

In V6 (and probably v5 as well) you simply have to run the script “Tools>Scripting>Render Image Sequence”.

Sure… this script will only output JPG or PNG… but I’ve never found that to be a problem when bringing them into another animation program.

[Gary & Yvonne] “Also thanks Liam for replying but the reason i didn’t do a pan/crop because the client wanted to see the whole picture without losing anything and without panning.
I will use my photo editor to trim off the white border….but was just curious why it did that on 4 or 5 pictures out of 70?”

Hmm… in what way is cropping in Vegas using the Pan/Crop tool any different to doing it in photoshop? You should be able to trim out that small white border using the Pan/Crop tool… and that seems (to me anyway) a little quicker/easier than doing it in Photoshop… but I am definitely prepared to believe that is just me.

Or…. you could simply do a pan/crop to remove the white border.

I answered this question in the Sony Forum.

It sounds very like an issue I had… and it was related to the version of quicktime istalled. I had version 6.1 – and upgrading to 6.5 fixed it.
