This is a (Sony) recognized issue with preview performance when using nested vegs. The posts by Sony on another forum described the issue as being related to the original (nested) Vegs project quality settings. You basically have to change the quality settings for the nested project veg to be “draft” or “Preview” rather than “Good” or “Best”. They acknowledged this as being a bug and they have added it to their list of things to fix.

So… the workaround right now is to change the quality settings for all the nested vegs you will be using while you are in “edit” mode and when you do your final project render to go back in and modify all those Vegs to have the “proper” quality setting you want to use.

    Hope that helps.

  • 1) How to slow down the credit rool.

The credit roll displays (or rather paces itself) for the number of seconds defined in the properties for the media FX. Change (increase) the number of seconds in the “Length” box and the credit roll will go slower… then don;t forget to stretch out the event so that it matches the new length you specified within the FX properties

    2) Adding narration.

You can record your narration directly into a new audio track on your timeline (look for the “Arm for record” button in the audio track header).

    Ready for this?……

Hit the “INSERT” key on your Yeyboard.

I’ve got to say… even though that sounds like “dah” why didn’t I remember that… it truly is a horrible interface to the credit roll.

His price does include Vegas+DVDA… so it’s not quite as bad as it seems… although.. even then it does look a little “underpowered” for first rate editing system these days. Maybe better than the “average” a while ago – but not so much now.

Definitely get a minimum of 1GB and maybe even more. If you will be getting into HD resolutions you’ll need all the RAM you can muster.
