April 16, 2012 at 7:16 pm in reply to: HyperDeck Studio and a sata drive…

According to several recent posts over on the atemuser.com site regular SATA drives (non-SSD) can be used in Hyperdeck. This response (by BMD) seems to me to imply some hardware/firmware restriction is in place. I would really appreciate someone from BMD answering confirming this.

    Thanks

[Gary & Yvonne] “What can I do for dvda to recognize my burner?”

Upgrade to DVDA3. Unfortunately DVDA2 has pretty limited support for bruners.

For now you will need to install some of that software that came with your burner. At least then you will be able to “Prepare” using DVDA and then “Burn” using the software that came with your burner.

[gary & yvonne] “Do you lose any quality that is noticable if you were to recapture your dv tape and burn another dvd for your client.”

You lose nothing in terms of quality… as the version your stored to tape is eactly the same version that you get back off the tape (that’s the advantage of DV – it’s all Digital – 1’s and 0’s on the tape)

Are you trying to be mobile with this internet connection – or do you just want a faster internet connection for your home location? You seem to have linked this with your laptop purchase and said you needed somethign small and mobile… but maybe I got that wrong.

As long as the location is fixed you can get a satellite internet connection installed. The download speed is usually fast… but the upload is usually very slow. Overall it is still much better than dial-up for most users.

Alternatively you may find there are “local” wi-fi internet providers. This type of service is being introduced in many areas asa competitor to DSL/Cable.

Several wireless providers (Sprint/Verizon) now have a broadband wireless capability using a special PCCard for your laptop. For example this service from Verizon. Costs about $70 per month (I think).

[Peter Wright] “Supersampling may help minimise this loss.”

Supersampling is for temporal data (inter-frame) and has nothing whatsoever to do with spatial data. In other words… it’s not going to make any difference to the scaling/resolution issues.

  • Easy peasy…. just set the End Action property of the video to play the same video again. This feature is in DVDA2 and 3.

    It’s a “slow motion” bullet.

This is what Network Rendering was built for!

V6 does have much better optimization for mutliple processors – but I do not have a dual-processor system so I have no personal experience to be able to say in reality how much better it is in comparison to network rendering.

Glad it is working for you (apart from that odd “glitch”). I’ve used NR pretty extensively – and never encountered a glitch like you describe. However it sounds rather similar to the old “flash-frame” problem where occasionally you may find a frame from somewhere else in the project appears in the rendered avi file (for no apparent reason). Do a search on the Sony forum for “Flash Frame” and you may find some stuff that will help.

If you render without NR does that glitch happen?
