Just a thought… The avid DNxHD codec doesn’t require the speed of an SSD like uncompressed…

Has anyone tested to see if they could just plug a laptop sata drive in and record as DNxHD? Would the drive fit in the slot? Does the software in the studio keep you from mounting a standard sata drive?

This would make life even better….

SSD requirement remains in place. Traditional Platter based drives will not be properly recognized by the Hyperdeck.

According to several recent posts over on the atemuser.com site regular SATA drives (non-SSD) can be used in Hyperdeck. This response (by BMD) seems to me to imply some hardware/firmware restriction is in place. I would really appreciate someone from BMD answering confirming this.

    Thanks
