    Hi Vegas forum.
I have downloaded a trial of Sony Vegas to give it a try. One function I cannot do is render out a seqence of single images. Like .tga for instance, or .iff. I really need to be able to render out in these files in order to composite them in other programs, the file out choices I get with Vegas are rather limited, is there anyway of getting more options?

    Thanks in advance,

Current options tend to be jpg or png – the latter is commonly used as it preserves alpha channels.

If you can’t use pngs, I guess one workaround would be to export as png then batch convert them to whatever format you want in a paint program.

From your post it is not quite clear (to me) whether you have found the special script that will allow you to export an image sequence from the timeline.

In V6 (and probably v5 as well) you simply have to run the script “Tools>Scripting>Render Image Sequence”.

Sure… this script will only output JPG or PNG… but I’ve never found that to be a problem when bringing them into another animation program.

If you are wanting to use the files on the same computer or another computer in your network, you can “file serve” right out of Vegas into the other program.

    Check out https://www.debugmode.com/frameserver/
This is a free program and is excellent because it eliminates render times.

as an alternative you could render out to
    a quicktime file as well.

most compositing apps support that format.
