I generally wait until the project has been cut and then apply the effects at the end of the workflow, as playback with effects enabled is a nightmare.. I hope adobe includes a master toggle switch for effects on/off in an update.

The other option is to incorporate speed grade into your workflow instead of color correction in premiere.. I believe it is much faster, but it has an odd timeline structure to me! + export import routine is tedious.

  • Yes a feature request would be great. It would really speed up things! But the real winner would be an overall button for enable/disable effects.

I wonder if they presume it unnecessary because of adjustment layers? I rarely use them, but if you had a track with only adjustment layers in it you could enable/disable at will.. But to create adjustment layers for 100+ clips just ain’t cricket!

  • Well a work around I found is to copy and paste all the clips into a new sequence and all the FX will be activated again. Then I save the original sequence as a NOFX version and the new sequence as the Completed version.

    Hope that helps someone!

  • In terms of the external hard drive – you can set it as your scratch disk and duplicate your footage there, keeping your archival footage safe on your raid drives, but having your project files on your main hard drive.

if I’m not mistaken, this improves performance as it allows pp to go directly to the the media data. Just be sure to have the hard drive connected when you run pp otherwise funky conforming problems start arising!

If I understand you right, you want to have half a second audio fade to 50% volume before the cut?

Sounds good. I will have to beef up my specs or stop using magic bullet so much! Working on getting much better footage in the field so as to avoid all the post fixes.

Good to know the times though, thanks Shane.

    Hi Paul

I had this same problem but that was back with cs3 and cs4, it was related to avi files and how premiere was compatible with avi2 and not avi1 type containers, I would have to batch convert to avi2 and then import to premiere or it would endlessly conform audio.

But I see you are working with mts and h264 they seem to work seamlessly with cs6 for me, so I would suggest the external drive is the issue, you might look at setting up scratch disks.. If you haven’t already.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane

Enormous relative to a DVD and as well in terms of the render! My 5min clip took 3 hours, how long does one of your full length features take you to render out?

It’s also boggling to me that the broadcaster is capable of sending such high volume of data at a quick enough speed to stream it.

What kind of hardware do you use for exporting?

Greg stuff to know, especially about the commercials. Thanks Angelo

    Thanks Angelo,

A 2 hour feature would be enormous then roughly 25gb! And then compressed to a third to fit onto a 8gb blu ray? That is only 1080p, I’d love to know what a 4k Arri or Red feature size would be. 100gb? More?

The spec sheet for this particular tv station wants it on old school beta tape. I was just curious as to the data size in case of future stations.

    Thanks,

    Leon
