I agree. AJA is a first rate company with outstanding customer support. If Color were capable of accessing Io, AJA would support it.

Yes of course. That is what I meant to imply. It’s somewhat similar to the way Soundtrack Pro won’t use Io for monitoring unless you load a video file.

I had this discussion with an associate who claimed that renders on a separate scratch disc save seek time and prolong drive life. I disagreed, saying that in any project you may have captured media files that are physically far apart on a drive. To FCP it’s all media that is non-contiguous and must be randomly accessed. According to AJA support the Version 3 drivers for Io and LA will work with FCP 2.

I successfully did just that the other day. I exported a self-contained movie and then opened in QuickTime Pro, Exporting as AVI. I went this way because my client needs a deinterlaced file and Quicktime does a quick and decent job of deinterlacing. I then tested the files on my PC using Windows Media Player. Give it a try and see if it works.

For those interested, a work around is to apply a BCC Safe Colors filter (under BCC 4 Color Blurs) to the incoming clip which will match the levels and is a relatively quick render. In the meantime Boris engineering is looking into the problem. Thanks to Peter for his assistance.
