i rarely use my IoLA, but have reason to now and, since upgrading to FCS2, i cannot get the log & capture window to see video or audio. i have been through the all of the settings, all lights on the unit indicate everything’s a go.

the Io Control Panel says there’s “no video” even tho’, as stated before, the indicator lights on the unit say otherwise.

i have gone through every possible setting and, other than machine control, nothing else is working.

have there been some changes in FCS2 that have brought this on?

i’m tempted to get an A/D converter & just do it through my KONA 2 card (i have a video component SDI converter available to me)

    arrrrggghhh… i’m going insane.

Did you upgrade to the latest version of the Kona drivers??? If not, then uninstall the current drivers as recommended and install the new ones, that will most likely solve your problem.

Do the KONA drivers work for the I/O LA…since it is NOT a KONA card?

Try cycling the LA’s power off and on.

It still requires drivers from AJA, but apparently there is no update since the Universal Binary was released last year. Nonetheless, I would think unistalling and reinstalling the drivers would probably do the trick.

    hi everybody-

thank you for the quick replies… my sanity is grateful.

i have the latest KONA drivers, but that doesn’t get me my A/D audio… unless i’m missing something… which is entirely possible.

what i ended-up doing is just pulling my IoLA from my G5 and hooking it up to my 15″ powerbook and voila! it works like butter. i have an older version of FCP loaded on the powerbook so it was happy. fortunately it’s a betacam to DV conversion so i’m not getting killed on throughput.

i guess from here on, non-SDI goes the powerbook route.

again thank you & glory to the cow!

    i have a psuedo-related question on this topic…

will this problem go away if one were to own the HD I/o?

it is my understanding the HD Io is all things HD/SD – digital/analog, so in theory that is correct isn’t it?

The I/O HD doesn’t do uncompressed HD, it captures as ProRes 422. But it will do all forms of HD, and I think it will do DVCPRO HD too. But it can’t du UC HD because it connects via firewire 800.

DARN Sweet though. ProRes 422 is nearly indistinguishable from uncompressed HD.

We are using our AJA LA with Studio 2 with no problems. It didn’t require new drivers, the latest for the LA work fine. Io Driver V3 for Io/IoLA/IoLD (Release Date 4/4/2006). We are on a G5 Dual 2 Gig. OSX 10.4.9. I would call AJA Tech Support.

You must download and install the io drivers, they are not the same as the Kona drivers.

Do an uninstall then a reinstall of the io drivers.

no UC HD w/HDiO… bummer. i haven’t had a chance to look at the specs in detail as of yet. but not having UCHD lowers the drool factor just a little.

i’ll check with aja on the IoLA with the G5…

thanks everybody… glory to the cow.
