If you’re recapturing DV to save space the I would bypass the Black Magic card and capture directly via FireWire, using the Apple DV codec. If you capture analog component via the black magic card then I would consider DV50 or uncompressed 8-bit depending on how much storage you have. I wouldn’t use the 10-bit setting unless you’re planing on doing a lot of compositing.

Try giving each clip in the sequence a unique name and select the “base media file names on clip name” option in media manager.

Walter, you’re right. There is always room for improvement, but the squeaky wheel get the grease and if Apple monitors this forum (if they don’t, they should) then it’s good feedback (in addition to their feedback page).
