I had a similar issue trying to down res HDV to DV25 3:4 letterbox that I posted in August

I tried changing Field Dominance, Pixel Shift , Render Quality Setting and Center Position with the same results. I also tried 8 and 10 bit uncompressed settings with no improvement. Finally I had to use Compressor to get a quality down convert. I just don’t think FCP scales all that well. By the way all of the sample images in my post are interlaced.Lee Berger

Ah the halcyon days of the Amiga Workbench. I really miss the Guru Meditation Error #. I actually still have two Amiga 2000’s. One has the VT installed, but won’t boot up. I can’t bring myself to throw them away.

If you’re talking about exporting a movie of the project timeline then I recommend you export in the project’s format with no conversion. Export DV to DV, DVCPro50 to DVCPro50, etc. That way aside from renders, no additional compression will be added in the process. Instead of outputting to tape, I export a QuickTime movie and store it on 1 or more DVD-Roms. For instance on a 30-minute DV/DVCPro project I split the project into two 15-minute segments and store across two DVD’s Later I can transfer back to my RAID and join the two segments. I hope this answers your question.

Thanks. I think I see what you mean. If you drag the project into another project’s group and all of the parameters are applied the the group is that procedural?

You can import one Motion project into another Motion Project by importing or dragging from the File Browser inside Motion.

Could Nick benefit from more RAM? What role does the video ram on his graphics card play? Could it be that his project might be too macho for Motion?Lee Berger
