Tim,
Thanks for the offer of help and now I get chance to spew out my proverbial gordian knot. (I believe I’m ‘up the Khyber without a paddle at the moment)
I had finished one section of a job and then moved (fateful word?) the events and project folders to their own Final Cut Events Archive and Final Cut Projects Archive, respectively. This was ‘done’ on good advice and I’m pleased to say it worked – one way.
When I came back to ‘restore’ the media, that’s when all hell broke loose. I have the wonderful red with exclamation mark in it and nothing I seem to do cures the ill. I’ve tried reimporting the proress422HQ raw footage – to no avail. I’ve copied the project back into its respective Final Cut folders and nada. I’ve drag’n’dropped the raw stuff to every folder mankind has known or pondered to no avail. I’ve ‘re’ imported the media and ….nothing and now I’m looking at a long long weekend through my own, admitted, stupidity.
Should I have duplicated the project to a backup drive? I believe so and that’s what I’ve been doing since. But I’m not sure they will work ‘nicely’ when or if I need the media again – why DO clients keep changing their minds????
