This may cancel any HD firewire drive people want to do.

I copied this line from this web site https://www.hdforindies.com/

“””p2 card reader – that is THE way to get it in – FireWire only for DV”””

Can this be true? can anyone verify this?

I have always had a huge problem with term R&D. A lot of time and money goes into R&D to develop a product. Then a company has to slap a price on the product and start making money to re coupe their costs first, and then make money. A good starting point for companies is to look at similar products on the market. Last week I got a program to defrag my video drives called iDefrag, it was $30! works great, and fixed drop frames I had. For this product they could charge more. On the flip side is a plug-in called Automatic Duck, which costs $500!!! Nice tool but 1/2 the price of FCP which it goes into. These people will never see a dime from me because it is way over priced for what it does. More R&D went into creating FCP then Automatic Duck which again is 1/2 the price. For that product $150 whould be the price I would pay for it. If it hits $150 I would buy it. It depends on the person but if a company charges less they will sell more product and since it is a plug-in (software)there can;t be to much material going into each box they sell.

No doubt about the hard drive aspect of it. It will have to be able to write about 17-18 megs a second for a gig every minute. But a hard drive should have no problem with that.

But If I can buy for $1000 what FireStore is selling for $1700 then just guessing the $2000 hd version would sell for around $1300 from the guys, just a guess though.

    So if you

You are right about the firestore, I was thinking about this company.

    https://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=MTOS&Category_Code=DV

Firestore wants $1700 and this company wants $1000 for the same recording times. but you can find them as low $600 (small drive). I will have to disagree with the comment made about the hobby market ver. Pro’s or charging clients enough money. No matter what you buy everything has a fair price and it seems most people feel $1700 is to much for what it is. The example above shows that 1 company is 70% (give or take) cheaper for the same size as the firestore that does the same task. People more then likely would not spend $40 on 1 movie ticket for the same reason, they feel it is to expensive. People have an idea of what things should cost. a 2.5 80 gig laptop drive costs $110 (macsale.com) and that is more then likly the same 80 gig drive inside of the $1700 firstore.

They are more then likely going to charge that because they are the only kids on the block that will have that. I was hoping it was going to be around $1000 since their SD drives are $700 I think. Expect everything to be expensive at the start. Currently a 8.5 gig DL DVD is around $3.50 Prices will drop over time and the more competition they get. I liked the idea Panasonic said at a show, you could record to your iPod. That would be nice but I don

I did assume the quality would be better with the Varicam no doubt. But looking at the quality of the DVX-100 and knowing this camera is going to be better.

I’m curious what HD 100 will look like transferred to film. I have seen many videos transferred to film and you can tell.

I wonder if it would be better to shoot 720p and transfer to film stock or shoot 1080i and use the plug in for After Effects to run a program like Magic Bullet to convert to 1080p 24. or dose the camera already do 1080p @ 24fps?

So, since the real main differances in the cameras will be the lenses. could I expect using the HVX200 to deliver the same kind of quality shooting DVCPRO100 as your Vericam did shooting this video?

It sounds like the best thing is to upgrade. I don’t use it that often anymore so I would hate to spend hundreds of $$$ on it.

    thanks,

  • I make my own letter box by creating a black solid and then applying a 4 point garbage matte. after I get the points all set you then select the invert button bellow that filter.

If you are working in DV (lower feild) always make sure that you make you ‘Y’ axis an even number. the ‘X’ can be anything but sliding up and down make sure it is even. An example would be that your ‘Y’ axis might be 135.23, in this case round it up 136. I don’t think Apple should let you set sub pixel level where you can split feilds.

Try odd and even numbers and you will see it be sharp and fuzzy, this also applys to text.
