Hey Berry, you helpeed me with this same problem. I couldn’t get it to work for a long time and then discovered that the camera, like you mentioned here, has to be set to the same record settings as your time line. I had an HD timeline that I wanted to output but the last thing I shot was a 480i and that is why the camera print to video didn’t work. I had go go back into the camera and set it back to 720p then it worked

  • When you get some underwater shots can you post them on this site? I too am looking into buy an underwater housing and I was wondering how the images look. I know underwater shotss can be darker and shots with my HVX can be a little grainy in dark areas.

    Thanks.

Was this the problem when switchign from 5.0.4 to 5.1? I have heard there are problems with the switch but I have not heard what the problems are?

That is good to know. I don’t know why that worked since everything I have read says that it won’t. I also hope to see someone answer this question.

From what I have read at this site if that file is missing your footage is useless and won’t import. I could see why they didn’t include the file. You have 2 items the CONTENTS folder with all the media in it and something that looks like a ‘read me file’ that you find on everything these days. If I wasn’t told how important that file was I also would have left it off. Panasonic should have named that default file ‘NEED THIS FILE TO IMPORT CLIPS.txt’

    Hope you can get it.

You might be careful upgradign to 5.1. I found out a few days ago in another post that if you are editing in FCP and switch from 504 to 5.1 there are some kinds of problems with playing back the footage. I am still using 504 and am not going to upgrade until the problem s solved. Then on the other hand I don’t know what the problems is? Audio sync? Drop Frame or what happens.

    look into it.

Jan, I would love to see some of that footage! I thought Panasonic had an underwater housing as well?

I looked at one or two of those. They seem really nice but I think they cost more then the camera it’s self. I also dive and was thinking about a housing. The one thing that I was wondering is the low light shooting if your not using lights. There is noticable amount grain when I have shot in low light. But not noticable when things are well lit.

I’m really wanting to see some underwater shots using this camera before I dive into an underwater housing.
